"In the illustration Cut on the Dotted Line, the artist navigates the interplay of their mixed-race and Queer identity, from childhood to adulthood. The piece explores the idea of complex identities and finding community in a world obsessed with labels. The artist shows their personal journey from child to adult, and how their ideas on identity have evolved. Childhood is shown through old family photos, showing the realities and simplicity of being a kid, and the community that is found within family. The artist illustrates themself in the current day and reflects on how they view themself now. They consider the complicated task of finding labels and "fitting in" in adolescence and adulthood, at the same time longing for the simplicity of being a child. Through this juxtaposition of imagery, the artist invites viewers to contemplate the complex layers of self-identity, and how they find community within that."
