He made sure to go check on the girl after she’d had a minute to go about her work for a little while longer, catching her at the bar when she was gathering drinks for a different table “you okay? They don’t do that too often here do they?”

Following behind Anatasia, Kouen lets out a sigh.

"Once again, I'm sorry for not mentioning them sooner. I'll give you a run down before we get there so you can judge how the crowd might react. Their name is simple, we refer to them as Dungeons. They can appear anywhere, at any time, and unless it's a special type remains until it's cleared. If someone enters, there's only one way to leave it alive - clear it."

Holding up Phenex's medallion, as well as the sword it was attached to, he continues on.

"Upon clearing, you will meet with an entity called Djinn, and they will judge you to see if you are worthy of their power. If you are, you will receive a metal vessel - like my sword and medallion here - in which the Djinn will live in. However, in order to be accepted one must possess a certain amount of Magoi. This is fundamentally incompatible with your people at the moment in the event they do manage to clear it, not to mention the chaos with your magic being in the state it is making clearing it almost impossible. So from what I know of them, having cleared three myself, and of your situation, I can pretty much promise anyone who enters one by mistake or intention, will die."

Reattaching the sword at his hip, Kouen looks to Anatasia as they continue on.

Kouen raises his hand, shaking his head at Runir.

"You need not thank me. I could scarcely call myself a ruler if I ignored the request of someone who travelled so far to try and get some aid for not just her family, but her homeland as a whole. I may be cold hearted, but not heartless."

Sitting properly in his seat once again after the wave of discontent from the elves, he clears his throat and uses his cane to point to the map.

"Now, the reason I've asked all of you people here. While I understand that given their remarks they likely have no fans among the people currently gathered, please relay it to those who left at some point."

"I need not tell you all what this is a map of, but I need to explain why I'm using it. If you and yours have some other thing you refer to when you say the name, please keep in mind it's not what I mean when I say it. We are here today to warn you all of Dungeons."

Kouen taps his cane in a few places on the map, ever so lightly causing the map to singe to leave a mark. Leaving 12 marks in all, he quickly taps a few of the cities. One in the far south east of the country, One in the center, another to the south west of that one, one in the north east of the country but not the northmost one, and finally the city he was currently in, Solitude.

"Everywhere I've tapped just now is a location prime for a Dungeon to appear in. I can't explain to you exactly what goes into making a Dungeon appear, as we have no idea ourselves. If I had to give a comparison, it's like how you guys likely have no real idea about what made your Daedric. Bonus is that, given what I've heard of them, I'd call them equally lethal making it a good comparison."

Retrieving his cane, and starting to walk around the room, Kouen once again unlashes his sword from his hip. Honestly considering just leaving it unlashed for now as he turns it around in his grip.

"Dungeons are dangerous places. When you enter one, there's only really two things that will happen; you survive, or you die. Now I'm sure you are thinking 'well, that's obvious' but what I mean is that you cannot leave a Dungeon after you have entered it. So you either survive till the end, or die trying. There is no try again. That being said, they are not impossible."

Setting the sword down on the table, having gone half way around it, he walks in between two chairs giving a quick glance to the people on either side.

"I myself have cleared three. I know of a man who's cleared... I believe his last announced number was seven. However, we are both unusual. For most, it's a miracle to be able to clear a second one. Everyone who clears one gets proof, called Metal Vessels, per clear. So I have three, that man has seven, you get the idea. Me having three likely makes you think 'oh, it can't be that bad'. Every conquering was life or death, and that's with me getting an easier time as I went. They. Are. Lethal. The sword, the ornament, and this spaulder on my right arm are my proofs."

Returning to his seat, he places the sword down in front of him on the table.

Kouen puts his head in his hands, letting out a very long sigh. He shudders at the thought of having to contend with Sinbad about this, but with a lot of luck and some wit he might be able to avoid it entirely. That is, if the unpredictable calamity doesn't decide he needs to explore the world or something.

"We have some Magoi - our form and source of magic, for reference - users out helping right now, so while it's not medicine or immediate repairs we'll be able to properly assist with that before long. Knowing what's needed in those areas is best gained from the general populace. As for what we will look for in return..."

Facing back towards the map, Kouen thought about making up a sort of believable lie. Their money, control of their governments, their likely now dying wildlife, but each one is a obviously bad deal for Kou for different reasons. This means there's really only one way forward.

"I don't know. For our immediate help, I've already gained a bunch of information from Alice, and I'm sure as a ruler - in name or not - you also aren't blind to the fact that those I have out helping will bring me more information that they were told. What I've gained has more than paid for what's coming to you as fast as we can get it out. But I lack knowledge of sustainable industries you have, and I'm sure you can't answer ones that might not need to go through radical shifts at the moment due to a fundamental change in environment. I could ask for currency, but aside from hoping it's made out of similar precious metals to ours it has no value to us, and your economy is about to fold in on itself anyways. My affairs in Kou at the moment are just barely in hand as well, so even if I asked for the absurd idea of effectively becoming a figure above Alice, or you two, or whoever, I simply wouldn't be able to manage it at the time. Nor would I ask that in particular; I have no interest in fighting your entire dragon population."

Spreading his cane out across the map, looking at the places he singed earlier, he gets an idea for the interim while they are still adjusting.
