My new art project calls for 115,000 all seeing eyes, cut individually with a razor blade, from one dollar bills. Three years later, I am almost done. 

As the world looks on with horror at the growing civilian toll in Gaza, and Hamas and Israel consider the terms of a U.S.-proposed ceasefire, one young Palestinian architect is responding to the crisis through art. Gaza-based Tawfik Gebreel aims to send a message, in the “universal humanitarian language understood by all peoples of the world.” He is using photos of the smoke thrown up by rocket strikes and reworking the images with symbols of hope and unity.

While leaders across the country refuse to accept Syrian refugees, insisting they pose an unacceptable security risk, homegrown domestic extremists have been doing a pretty good job of terrorizing their fellow Americans with guns, explosives and threats of large-scale attacks. In addition to these, we can leave off the shooting in Minneapolis.
