Despite many lucrative raw materials leaving this port, accounting for over half of Colombia's imports and exports, Buenaventura suffers from abject poverty and horrific human rights abuses - politicians and armed groups compete for control of the lucrative port and corruption is rife. Doom, Fuerza Punk, Bogota, April 2015. Comparing Doom’s set with that of Anti-Diktatur or Des-Acato, the mood had completely changed by the time they came on stage. Not negative towards the band, but by this point everyone was exhausted, and sweat had begun to drip from the ceiling it was so hot. The underground venue, packed with around 500 people, probably more, had only one entrance, which also served as the fire escape (final photo), and was constantly blocked by people trying to get air, since only bands were allowed pass-outs by security. It’s sad to look at the faces in the crowd and see how everyone looks at best, uncomfortable, especially since, quoting one person filmed before the gig “I have hoped to see doom since I was 13. I’m now 28″. Part of the South American tour, the gig in Bogota happened a few days before Santiago. In the second to last photo, I think this is when Scoot tells the crowd they have to stop playing, hence all the middle fingers in the air because no one yet knows why. After about 6 songs, someone was stabbed, albeit just outside the venue, so the show was stopped. In hindsight it could have been a lot worse.
