“6 months from now I will be in a different situation.”
Speak it into existence.
A better situation
A healthier, more peaceful, positive situation.
Help for going back to school!
What’s in my Backpack
blog post 1st august 2018
I wanted to make a little back to school series, since I’m going back on the 6th, and show you what I bring to school so you can maybe be inspired :)
So I have a quite big Herschel backpack, it has good back and shoulder padding and can store a lot!
what i bring:
a water bottle and snacks you’ll spend a lot of time in school, at least i do. To be hydrated and function troughout the whole day food and water are always in my bag!
my pencil case very obvious but well xD I bring a lot of pens and stuf to school so my pencil case is actually a little makeup bag. I have my fav pens, like my pentel energel (all time fav) and a bunch of mildliners and much more!
binder with loose leaf paper of all kinds and my school stuff. I don’t have a big binder like some other people but a small one. and I store my school papers for each subject separately and only bring the subjects I have that day so it doesn’t get too heavy
school books for subjects I have that day I usually store my books in the school but if I used them for homework they are also in my bag
calculator it’s my lifesaver in math so this thing is always with me
case for my glasses I can’t see without them so the case is in there and if they are dirty I can clean them
emergency girl kit with the usual stuff like pain and other meds, pads and tampons (if you don’t need them, some other girl from your class might) a nail file, hand sanitizer and spray deo (school can be gross so)
my keys for my house
purse with some money, my school id, my bus ticket etc
bujo because without my bujo or any sort of planner i would be 100% lost
7.24.18 // 9:30am // starting a semester without shooting yourself in the foot
hola! recently got an ask from an anon about how to start the new semester so here it is. (sorry for the early back to school posts but like? winter is coming? yeah sorry don’t watch game of thrones) xoxo, m

“I know that all of this is going to pay off. I just have to stay consistent. It’s not always easy but this is all going to work out in the end.”
— Affirmation of the day.
apps to download for school 📚 📱
camscanner: will scan your notes beautifully for you to save and convert them to PDF! includes adjustable settings and filters.
adobe acrobat reader: pdf reader that i personally really love, has a night mode and works offline perfectly.
school (yes that is what it is called): planner app that comes with a timetable and will inform you of when your next class ends/begins, and has a homework section. on top of having a lovely theme, this app also includes a handbook that includes what are essentially “cheats” to your schoolwork & they are immensely helpful! a very multifaceted planner.
minimalist: another planner app! this one is solely a planner app and is really nice and minimalistic. i personally use it for school projects that have a lot of steps, as well as at home things
ike: this one is really clever! it organizes your tasks by “important & urgent, important but not urgent, urgent but not important” and “not important or urgent”. it also will remind you of tasks at the date you assign them with a notification.
goodtime: this app times both your work sessions and your break times. it’s really good for managing time and ensuring that you don’t overwork yourself!
sleepytime: sleepytime has you select an option for whether you want to find when you should wake up, when you should sleep, or when you should wake up if you sleep right then. from there, it’ll tell you what time to sleep/wake up for the best amount of sleep! i find it endlessly helpful, especially during the school year. avoid all nighters, kids.
quizlet: MY FAVORITE SCHOOL APP!! you’ve probably heard of it. access your flashcards for easy studying on the go, quizlet will actually save your life.
duolingo: i know you’ve probably heard of this one, & as annoying as the notifications can be, it’s actually pretty helpful for language learning. check the community comments as well for tips written by natives or those fluent!
soundcloud/spotify: these aren’t really school apps per say, but they both have tons of study playlists that will make studying that much easier! spotify also has podcasts you can listen to if you’d like.
please feel free to add more if i missed any that work for you!
3 Websites/Apps that every student needs.
Today’s post is all about websites that I use in my daily school routine for essays or generally for homework that might make your life a lot easier too.Let’s get on into it.
• Photomath: Photomath is actually an app where you can take a photo of a math equation and it can solve it for you BUT unlike some other apps that give straight up the answer it gives you the details of the solving procedure.I know that some of you might think that this is actually not good and I know that we’re supposed to do all the homework by ourselves but I sometimes use it when I’m just not in the mood to do Maths but still need to get all my school work done for the next day.
• Hemingway: So this a site that I’ve been really using lately when it comes to double-checking and correcting essays.I really like Word don’t get me wrong but after I finish a big essay I always make mistakes (e.x. some words might not be correctly written or might not “fit”) so I copy and paste the whole article or whatever it is there and it highlights the mistakes or anything that is not correctly done in my work.
• IXL: This is a website for maths practice problems that I told you in my previous post. There’s not much to explain, it provides you with all kinds of exercises for whatever you need and at least for me it has done wonders.
BACK TO SCHOOL: HABITS TO DEVELOP
hi guys! i’m back with a masterpost of sorts, and a positive one since my posts haven’t been the most optimistic recently…
for some of us, back to school is right around the corner. for others (including me), we have a month left, and the realisation that school exists and we should probably start preparing is beginning to settle in.
start waking up earlier: wow, wow, wow. the most generic ‘tip’ ever to exist. but it’s true - if you keep waking up at 12pm, you’ve already lost most of your day and don’t have all that much time to do stuff. so, wake up earlier. i wake up naturally between 7 and 9am anyway (9am is a lie-in for me, thank you body clock *eyeroll*) so this isn’t a huge thing for me, but goddammit if you want any chance of not being an angry teenage monster when you have to go back to school, start waking up earlier a few weeks before summer ends.
follow your school routine: i saw this tip recently (i can’t remember who posted it, i’m so sorry! credit to you!) where you follow your school routine every morning, which can not only normalise it so you don’t associate that routine with school (that made no sense, i’m sorry - it just reduces the association with school, and when school comes around, you’ll hopefully associate it with summer break) but it gives you some kind of purpose in the morning so you don’t end up in bed all day with a jar of nutella for company…. i see you.
journal: this doesn’t have to be a perfect bullet journal like the ones you see all over tumblr, or a planner. i mean a journal, to write in and press flowers in if you wanted to, and just sit and feel like those girls who sit under a big window with books and a handwritten inky journal with no technology in sight that you see on tumblr in the lead-up to autumn. (phew, that was a long sentence). this grounds you, but KEEP IT PERSONAL! not school related! as a person who’s brain works on associations, it’s important to keep potentially stressful environments and aspects of my life completely separate from places of solace (in this case, the journal, where i go to write and say everything i need to).
have a ritual: yes, i’m a witch, so this could be a witchy ritual. but no, i’m talking about something you do weekly, whether it’s a friday night, a sunday or a mid-week pickup on a wednesday. this is an evening where you, for example, finish all your work by 8pm and then devote the rest of your evening to chilling. the fuck. out. put your books away and get your bag ready for the next day, and get up from your desk. draw a bath or take a shower. a long one. preferably a bath, so you can sit with bubbles and a book and chill out completely. then, make a cup of tea and sit in bed with a book or your journal, or an episode of your favourite netflix show. then go to sleep feeling really calm and at ease.
do your work as soon as you get it: every year - every term (okay sorry, semester. jeez, i’m a brit. anyway.) for that matter - we say to ourselves that the second we get homework or a project, we’ll do it immediately. do we end up doing that? no. should we? yes. set that same goal this year, and at least try to do it. okay but seriously, this is important if you want to keep up, all jokes aside.
check who you’re surrounding yourself with: are these people motivating? positive? do they lift you up, and keep you on the right path? or do they drag you down with their own woes that they drown you in, or do they belittle you, or make you feel like school is dumb and ruin the motivated mindset you had ten minutes ago? if so, leave. find new, better people who tick all the boxes. in school, you need a support base of people who help you academically, and listen to you - but remember, you need to be returning that. you need to listen to them when they need it, and help them in return.
eating breakfast: i suck at eating when i’m not at school - in the three weeks i’ve been on summer break, i don’t think i’ve eaten lunch once. but school reminds me to eat, and i come v close to dying if i don’t eat breakfast before school, but i know that suddenly eating in the morning after six or seven weeks of… not… can suck and can make you feel pretty shit, so start doing it a week or so before - if you haven’t noticed, these habits are all things to start before school, so they’re already habits by the time summer ends!
make a study group (chat): i’m kicking my social anxiety in the ass and i posted to my snapchat asking for people to message me if they’d be interested in being in a study groupchat on snapchat, which hopefully could turn into an actual study group when exams get closer. i’ve never done this before, but it seems promising so i highly recommend you try this as well! it doesn’t have to be a post-on-story-and-wait-for-applicants, it can just be your friends, and have that chat be strictly-study related, not just a groupchat. i had one like this last year, and we had strict rules that you weren’t allowed to talk about non-study stuff, since it was a group with my best friends and we had two other groupchats (i take things way too seriously lol)
okayyyy that’s all i have! feel free to reblog and add on any tips you think of (we gon need all the help we can get next year, studyblr gotta stick together yknow)
back to school reminders:
your grades don’t define you
mental health is a priority
not doing some homework assignments isn’t the end of the world
you don’t need a perfect GPA to go to college
apply for scholarships
drama is exhausting; try to avoid it
ask for help when you need it
you aren’t stupid for not knowing everything
not every friend is a real one
teachers aren’t always right
everyone makes mistakes
you can do it
Because school starts in a week
