Alexander Rosier had a pretty decent childhood, spending most of it in France, living with his mother and grandmother. He never learned much about his father, since the two women had decided to keep the man’s identity in secret. Alex didn’t mind that much, although it did bother him that most of his friends had fathers and often asked about his. That’s when Alex would find himself completely clueless, how could he not know anything about his own father? Not even his name? Deciding to finally get to the bottom of everything, the boy started digging around his family albums and his mother’s private belongings, whenever she turned her back. Unfortunately the only thing he could find was a name - Evan, Evan Rosier. It was enough for now, but he made it his mission to find out more in the near future. On his tenth birthday an unfamiliar man showed up at his grandmother’s doorstep and after a brief hello and handshake with his mother, Alex found himself being taken away from everything he once knew and forced to start a new life in England with no other but his once missing father. The boy couldn’t understand why he had to leave France and half his family behind to live with Evan Rosier, the man about who he knew nothing more than his name. His father didn’t give an explanation, he just told Alex he had an agreement with his mother and this is the way things are going to be, but he did promise to tell him the truth when he is old enough. Too scared to ask for more information, Alex had to forget about the warm life he had in France filled with laughter and friends, most of his days now consisted of lesson with private tutors and never ending lectures about responsibility and family duty from his father.
The next year on his eleventh birthday he received his Hogwarts letter and soon enough he was stepping into the school himself. It felt amazing to be around people like him and far away from his father and everything at home. He was sorted into Ravenclaw, which was the perfect house for him, since his desire to learn grew more and more each day. Alex soon got obsessed with the stars and spent every night he could on top of the Astronomy Tower, exploring maps and comparing what he was seeing with what was written on them. It became his favourite subject and soon enough he started dreaming of pursuing a career as an Astronomer. Unfortunately, that wasn’t an option he could think about for long. Right before his sixth year his father decided to finally tell him everything he had been keeping from the boy. Of course, it was no secret the Rosiers were once involved with criminal activity, but as far as Alex was aware, that was far behind in the past. Turns out he was very wrong. His father was still a Death Eater and on top of that, he was a part of a plan which involved the Death Eaters stepping up to power again and fighting for what Lord Voldemort once did. The boy was now forced to study his hardest and work his best so that he could have the right grades to become an Auror. Alex was far from willing to work anything that had to do with the Ministry, but his father explained to him that if he got past the Auror training and made it to the top he could give the Death Eaters secret information. Appalled by his father’s request, Alex fought and fought against it, but in the end, what choice did he have? It wasn’t easy to win over the Ministry and become an Auror, especially when he was Rosier, but somehow he made it. For two years he gave out top secret information to his father and to the Death Eaters. When they finally rose to power and replaced everyone working in the Ministry with their own people, which also led to Hogwarts closing, Alex didn’t know if he could go on doing this.
The guilt was never ending but one day, unexpectedly, his father passed away. A curse or a blessing, Alex wasn’t sure, the only thing he knew now was that he would no longer give out any information to the Death Eaters. He knew this was a threat to his life and he knew that it more dangerous to be against them than with them, but he wanted nothing more than clearing his conscious and helping everyone in need, trying not to think of the threats he might receive. The dreams of working with Astronomy weren’t completely left behind but he knew he wasn’t supposed to be selfish now and that he had to stand up for what’s right, at least once in his life.
