A few more behind the scenes shots from my final major project, as well as the putting up of the exhibition space which is currently ongoing.
Preview of my final course exhibition space mid-assemble: 5 jewel cases, 15 individually designed 7" record sleeves, and 6 very sturdy 12" record sleeves.

Spent the day playing around with sublimation printing, which involves applying high amounts of heat to transfer an image from print paper to a synthetic fabric such as polyester. Been drawing up plans for a photoshoot involving my new merchandise which will hopefully come together early next week as my project reaches its final stages!

A preview of my final major project, a repackaging of AURORAâs 2016 debut album âAll My Demons Greeting Me As A Friendâ completed in the style of Check Morrisâ work on Naughty Boyâs âHotel Cabanaâ. The vast majority of imagery will be sourced/illustrated by myself using a mixture of materials shot in the UK and Madrid, combined with elements recreated from the official packaging.
Three photomanipulations created for my second pathway project, titled âIn The newsâ. Each one explores a future scenario caused by the relaxing of climate change legislations.
1. âPolar Bear Territoryâ
2. âThe Last Penguinâ
3. âSerbian Liquefactionâ
Using foam board, plant pot bases, low tack tape, ping pong balls and spraypaint I created a to-scale white model of a vintage Japanese bathhouse, inspired by the 2001 film âSpirited Awayâ. Having never previously worked with foam board I found myself enjoying it a lot and even though all the measurements and calculations took some time to get used to I was pretty pleased with the final result, even if it was very rough around the edges.

Wooden sculptures and practise attempts from first pathway project entitled 'Small Things, Big Ideas'. I chose to explore the fleeting and unconsidered nature of handwritten and digital text. For these sculptures I used seemingly insignificant text messages and immortalised them on wooden canvases encased in string, a move inspired by the interior architecture of Falmouth University's lecture halls. The stencils were created using a mixture of laser cutters and scalpels.
In order to keep my output up whilst focusing on my course, I joined a cover designing competition on a small pop culture forum, with the two above being a couple of entries. Business & enquiries: [email protected]
Whilst Iâm enjoying the course thoroughly, the shift from A2 to foundation was more sheer than I couldâve guessed and there are times where I find myself missing the guidance of a classroom community. This newfound independence can be challenging at times especially when it comes to motivating myself to work, but this is one of the reasons I chose to defer applying to a university for a year, so that I was able to achieve a greater understanding of my limits and build up my confidence. The first pathway project we were issued was titled âSmall Things, Big Ideasâ and the photographs above are process shots of my canvas developments using wooden slabs and string. Inspired by the work of Francesco Joao Scavarda and his typographic spray painted canvases as well as the interior design of Falmouth University's lecture halls, I wrapped up my wooden slabs with individually placed sections of string and plan on either painting directly on or using a laser cutter to print out a stencil of some written text. The topic of my project is handwriting so this will hopefully provide me with a solid 3D outcome, or ideally several to form a series of sculptures.
Ok so this blog kind of took a change of direction over the past couple of months and I apologise to those who don't like the new content, however I'm still designing and will try to throw in more covers when I can. I recently began an art foundation course so instead of creating yet another new blog I decided to intersperse blog entries about my course with my design posts. Zombie workshopping which I annoyingly forgot was happening so I wore my nice white jumper. It wouldâve been nice to try out some prosthetics but alas this wasnât my day, however I managed to tail onto the final shoot and helped photograph the other students whilst they acted in another departments music video shoot.
Plaster head sculpture attempt 1. The plaster warmed as it settled due to the exothermic processes occurring inside and within a few hours the mixture had hardened, where I then removed it from the latex mould and began applying layers of shellac to seal and help darken. After several layers I then applied and carefully removed black zip finisher to give my head a weathered appearance.
