Boy Commandos to ORPHANS…
For The Whistling Skull (for DC Comics), Tony Harris and I imagined a slightly more vicious take on DC’s Boy Commandos, even if they only appeared on one page (opening issue four). I liked the idea of a savage junior guerrilla fighting force, and, along with artist Alejandro Aragon, constructed a pitch around a group of war orphans turned guerrilla fighting force, called ORPHANS.
We worked up a pitch, along with colorist Erin Wilson, but never quite got our ducks in a row on the book. Along with a few pages of action, Alejandro created this rather striking cover proposal.Â
