do you remember what were the last lines of the show? the 2016 one ended with harry and albus saying how it’s going to be a nice day & so i was wondering whether albus saying that scorpius is the most important person in his life came before or after that. it’s all good if you don’t remember though! 💕

I don't think you're reading too much into this AT ALL.

First of all, I highly recommend that interview to any Scorbus shipper who was doubtful about the changes actually meaning something—it's with the leads who currently play Albus and Scorpius on Broadway, who were a part of the transition from two-part show to one-part show. Up until this point, the change in their relationship to something more "romantic" has been mostly us the fans reading the changes, and news outlets pointing it out (including the NYT).

To explain context here on tumblr, in the interview, Brady and James talk in specifics and use the terms "romantic" to talk the changes to the text—about how in the two part version, the choice to play the characters as more romantic/queer was up to the actors (and was the choice they were going to make when they were rehearsing the two part version), so they were surprised and excited when they got the shortened version to start rehearsals that it was suddenly a part of the text, and like this anon is saying, how that was something that was wanted and supported as they went through the workshop journey by both John Tiffany (the original director) and Jack Thorne (the man who actually wrote the play). The other name is, I agree, specifically left out, both as a member of the ongoing creative process and as a supporter of the change.

Both actors also discuss specifically how being so close to each other helped them with their gender journeys (both James and Brady use he/they pronouns) and, at the end, allude to the terrible things that woman has said and how damaging its been for fans and their relationship to the series, and how they're thrilled to add this LGBTQ+ side to the story that was not already there, even if it's light because the characters are still only 14 by the end of the show and really, that journey is just starting for them.

Point is, anon, in an interview where they specifically allude to the hurtful, hateful things she's said, and name John Tiffany and Jack Throne specifically, I do not think you are reading too much into it at all, though I'm not sure if I know if the implication is that she was not in support of the changes or if she was specifically excluded from the process at all. Or both.
