SEEING HER AGAIN BRINGS PEACE and it reawakens a part of him he forgot existed, that voice in his head that reminds him things can actually turn out ok. losing emma was one of the hardest things he ever went through, and the months that followed that him believing heâd never see her again, let alone meet anyone who could make him feel the same way. and yet, here she is, standing right in front of him with her books in her locker.Â
â maybe i havenât âbut you sure have. â somethingâs different about her, that much he can tell. as relieved as he is to see her, she doesnât seemâŚherself. a part of him hopes its just first day jitters, but the emma he knows never got herself worked up over that kind of thing âshe always knew sheâd make an impression.Â
â maybe we can hang out sometime. catch up. â and a part of him just wants here to know heâs here for her if she ever needs.
It was odd seeing him again. A lot of mixed emotions. She truly thought she would never see him again, but here he was. So much had changed in her life, she could only wonder what could have happened in his. It was an odd thought, caring about someone else for the frst time in few years who wasnât her brother. But here she was, caring.Â
âPeople do tend to change, itâs true.â She finally said. âMaybe itâs for the better I have, time will tell. She shifted her weight, leaning against her locker. Then she heard his last request. Did she do it? Did she hang out? Catch up? What more is there to say?Â
âIâd like that.â Emma said. Even if she didnât mean it, she still would like it. She needed someone to ground her, and Scott was very grounding.Â
xmarksthescottâ:
HE HATES THIS SET UP. putting emma in the middle of those players, especially their biggest personal demons, really makes him feel on edge throughout the day. emmaâs always been strong and capable beyond belief, but he still finds himself worrying about her throughout the day, wondering if sheâs treading water or drowning in the ocean of secrets krakoaâs founders have cooked up.Â
their history is long and complicated, but they still know each other better than most people can ever dream of knowing another person. their trust had been fractured after she wiped herself from his mind, but when the chips are down like this, he knows he can count on her to be honest with him. emma wouldnât lie for something like this.
itâs what she says that shocks him, confusion and surprise lacing his features. â moiraâs a mutant? like seanâs moira? the professorâs old friend? rahneâs guardian? that moira? how the hell is she alive anyway? âÂ
She knew it. She knew this might ruin him. But it wouldnât, because heâs too strong to let this get in his way. But still, this was a big revelation. She didnât expect Scott to trust her again so quickly, not after...Â
Well, not after she made him forget her. But everything sheâs done is for the betterment of mutant kind. And the betterment of Scott. But that could wait. She had... things to tell him. That she couldnât tell where they fell.Â
âThe very same.â Emma confirmed. âMoiraâs not just any mutant. Currently sheâs the mutant. Sheâs on this island somewhere, but I know Tweedle Xavier and Tweedle Magnus wonât let us near it. So here we are. I... can show you what she showed me. I kept it in my mind. Itâs overwhelming, but... I think you need to see it.â Â
She put a hand on his cheek.Â
âI just donât want to hurt you. More than I already am.âÂ
hit that like if you want to be bullied by emma!Â
xmarksthescottâ:
HE DOESNâT HAVE TO BE A MINDREADER to know sheâs pissed. he knows her well enough by now to know what what look means âit means someone tried to fuck with her. and emma doesnât deal well with being backed into corners âneither does he, though and thatâs probably what made them such an effective duo during their leadership years.Â
he doesnât trust this place or its government, but he trusts her. from the moment he set foot on xavierâs ânew utopiaâ he could see the floorboards nearly eroding with secrets being forcibly kept down. and like all things that boil over, an eruption is inevitable âand it seems like emma caught the brunt of it.
he folds his arms against his chest, nodding solemnly.
â not that i wouldnât love to hear what shiro hates about my leadership today âbut iâm all ears, emma. âÂ
As if he couldnât be any more charming, he would actually listen to her. Isnât that nice? Being listened to? Being listened to by someone who wanted to listen? The quiet council never listened, the Hellfire Trading club had to listen, and Sebastian Shaw...Â
She supposed that situation would come to a climax yet again shortly.Â
âYouâre not going to like hearing this,â She said solemnly. Breaking Scott Summersâ heart was not an easy task, but this might just do it.Â
âMora MacTaggert helped create this island we all share now. Not only is she alive, but sheâs a mutant whoâs lived countless lives. Iâd love to wring her bloody neck but that might just start another universe.âÂ
She turned around and put her hands on Scottâs shoulders, making him aware of the gravity of the situation.Â
âMoira MacTaggert is possibly the most dangerous mutant in the universe and sheâs right below our feet, scheming with the geriatrics.âÂ

Reading the mind of the biggest liar and criminal in mutant history was not something Emma Frost expected she would ever do in her life. Truthfully, she had always figured that person would be Charles Xavier. But no. It was bloody back from the dead Moira MacTaggart. The one they named the stupid hospital after. A very much alive woman who lived more lives than Emma could fathom. Only now she had to fathom it because sheâs been inside the womanâs twisted mind.Â
And in that moment she knew she had to ruin her.Â
The trio of Xavier, Lensherr, and Frost, had become a symbol for mutantdom. Inspiration. Hope. Perseverance. But two of them poisoned that message forever. Sheâd never forgive them.Â
âFor the children,â she once said. What a load of bullshit. They spun their story and she swallowed it like someone who hadnât watched her students die over and over again.Â
But someone else needed to know. And thankfully he was on Earth now, leading the merry team of X-Men. Scott Summers. The man who should be the face of mutantkind, not the bald narcissist with the nonsense on his head.Â
âScott, darling, I need to talk to you,â She said, pushing past him. Not able to look him in the eyes just yet. She crossed her arms, her back to him. âAnd I promise itâs more interesting than listening to whatever Rogue wants to tell you about her Cajun lover, or Shiroâs daily complaint.âÂ
xmarksthescottâ:
HEâS IN A RUSH, trying to make it to the other side of the building in time for biology. he wants to curse whoever built his schedule this way, forcing him to dart from one end to the next in the two minutes allotted between classes. of course, heâs even later than he originally imagined when he realized just who he bumped into.Â
emma frost. the one person he was sure heâd never see again despite how much he wanted to be wrong. and she still looks the same, blonde hair perfectly cut and laying just above her shoulders. sheâs never looked less than perfectly kept ânot a hair out of place or make-up done messily. sheâs probably the only person whoâs as much of a perfectionist as he is.Â
and when he sees her, he forgets all about the class heâs running to. a smile breaks his features, surprise giving way to unexpected joy. â emma⌠âÂ
â tell me iâm dreaming âcause otherwise, i think iâm the luckiest guy in the world. âÂ
Heels that werenât hers. Expensive looking clothes from a thrift store. A blazer her brother picked out for her. Hair done by said brother. A bracelet she stole from her sister. Emma was coming undone at the seams but no one had to know.Â
  Especially not Scott Summers.Â
She half expected him to hug her on the spot, which she was glad he didnât. If someone touched her she might scream. But then he said it. âLuckiest guy in the world.â She almost laughed. Half in a âyou have no idea Iâm holding on by a threadâ and half in a âthis boy is a puppyâ way. Instead she giggled cutely.Â
âOh Scott, you havenât changed, have you.â She said, somewhat comforted by that. She put a hand on his arm. âThis does make you the luckiest guy in the world, now, doesnât it?âÂ
@xmarksthescottâ
This high school was... something.Â
It was no private boarding school for girls, at least. But, no, that part of her life was over, she supposed. With the divorce happening and her move back, she doubt sheâd get the luxury of privacy and comfort that the Massachusetts Academy gave her.Â
A boy shorter than her bumped into her, probably a freshman. He mumbled a quick âsorry,â and Emma knew she was in hell.Â
She brushed off her arm as if to wipe him off of her, and went to her locker. Opening it, shoving her books in, then sighing. This was going to be her life until she got accepted into the Ivy League of her choice and then never had to look back at anything. She closed her locker and was going to walk, but was startled at the sight next to her.Â
Was that... no, it couldnât be.Â
  But it was.Â
Speaking of not looking back, she supposed. Emma ran a hand through her hair. She might as well, right? Better her find him than him find out she was back and come crawling to her like some dog left out in the rain. As amusing as that might be.Â
âScott?â She finally said, trying to get his attention. âScott Summers?âÂ
âTell me every terrible thing you did and let me love you despite it.â

Stiffly Eli shot a quick glance over his shoulder to make sure Laura hasnât wandered too far off. She seemed to have been caught in a conversation with a redhead girl with metallic skin, occasionally both looking his way with almost worried expressions. Ah, he has to be careful or his visitation rights might get revoked.
âI understand a lot more than you think I do.â Eli replied dryly, trying not to take it so personal when she says his species. Things are more complex here than meets the eye but she canât say he doesnât get it to a degree. âTheyâre not rejecting their identities theyâre just living their lives the way they want to and using their gifts the way they want to. You shouldnât force someone to do things your way because you see their way as wasted potential.â
A frustrated noise made its way up the back of his throat. âBilly knows how powerful he isâ or heâs figuring it outâ and it scares him but heâs putting in the work himself and heâs not alone. Tommy is⌠Tommy and sure he can goof off but he also has come really far. Sometimes you just have to let people go their own course and see how it goes. Who knows? It might lead them back here.â
âI donât expect you to understand. I donât need you to understand. But everything I have ever done was for the betterment of mutant kind and our future.â Although her methods were not always... agreeable to some parties, she was still true to herself or her goals no matter what. Eli didnât need to like her, but he should at least recognize her position.Â
She finally turned, pulling out her chair and sitting in it. âIf we had Billy we could potentially have saved mutantkind. But I suppose I should be proud a mutant helped end the Kree and Skrull conflict through the power of love.â Emma tapped her fingers against her desk. âOr something like that.âÂ
A pause. She finally looked at the young man in her room. âYou can stop glaring, by the way.âÂ

âLaura was actually giving me a tour butâŚâ Eli paused in the doorway of the office, heâs unarmed per X-23â˛s request but can still pack a punch if needed. âItâs Patriot and I was going to be remembered the, uh, talk you have with their mom.â Now that is something he wished someone had gotten on camera. âWhat was the goal though? After bringing them to Utopia? You realize that eventually Billy would have broken free and everything would have gone to shit, right?â
Oh, Laura. She had a big heart, didnât she. Emma gazed out her officeâs window, using a hand to keep the curtain open. All was as it should be outside. Inside, she was being questioned by a teen super hero. An American themed teen superhero.Â
âI donât expect you to understand, nor do I car if you do.â Emma said, closing the curtain, finally looking at her conversation partner. âBut you canât fathom the entirety of your species being wiped out by a single woman and having her children reject their identities. Were my methods crude? Yes. Were they effective? Regrettably not. Sometimes thinking in the short term gets you into trouble, doesnât it, Patriot.âÂ

"A fair reason.â Emma said. She supposed Inez did have a simpler taste than Emma, Emma naming and patterning herself after royalty and Inez pattering herself after Cowboys... It was a very clear visual distinction between the two. âYouâre always welcome, however. Most mutants are. And you donât have to stay. Iâm sure students would love to hear your adventures.âÂ

regeneratingdegenerateâ:
Deadpool figured as much. He was helpful to the cause when Logan needed someone dead, or if the X-Men wanted deniability, theyâd call Deadpool. But any other time? He could be tossed aside. He was mutant enough to run with the team when it suited them, but he didnât have an X-Gene so he wasnât welcome under any other circumstance.Â
Wade was used to it by now. Especially because heâd been labelled a liability so often that he believed it to be true.
âTrust me, I may be stupid but I wouldnât have turned to this guy if I had literally any other choice. I made a spree of bad decisions and had an even worse response to the consequences. I screwed up, I own that, but I canât see you goinâ toe-to-toe with Stryfe and coming out on top.â
âStryfe.â Emma repeated. And then, a sigh. She hoped that monster had fallen by the wayside or had gone to terrorize another timeline. âOf course the bloody Summers family can never let anyone rest.â She said to herself.Â
She knew Stryfeâs abilities. There was no way she would win in a fight against him, itâs true, but she would never admit sheâd lose a fight to anyone. But perhaps she was too quick to judge Wadeâs situation. Perhaps.Â
   Slightly.Â
      Maybe.
âYouâre no longer in debt to him, but is he in this timeline still? Because if so, you may actually be saving lives if you tell me.â An appeal to his hero complex? Maybe.Â
