Stay indoors, keep pets indoors, wear a mask if you go out walking (if you can), drink water, monitor local air quality and fire spread if it's a wildfire. Wind direction also — this will tell you if the smoke and embers are gonna blow at you or not. If you're worried, pack a go-bag with 48-72 hours worth of clothing and essentials (pet food, snacks, important legal documents like passports/birth certificates, etc). If you're outside warning zones, be ready to leave in 10-15 minutes. If you're in a YELLOW zone (non-mandatory evacuation/early warning) make sure you're ready to leave in 10 minutes or less should the fire get worse and have important documents ready. If you're in a RED zone make sure you take essentials, important documents, and anything you cannot live without. You want to be able to get away in 5 minutes because fire can spread fast when the wind is bad.

It's very dark in there once the internal lighting goes out.

The chip in the jar starts to crackle as the cold makes the glass brittle. Easy to shatter.

"Oh dear," Wesker says aloud, frowning as he removes the jar and gingerly sets it on a counter. He undoes the lid, noting with some frustration that it's cracked now — the man must not have been divested of weaponry — and unceremoniously tips the man out.

The pain and the cold and the warm gets to be too much and Leon passes out.

He'd rather not tuck an angry agent into his pants pocket, after all.

For now, he stays quiet, hoping his earlier squirming wasn't noticed, so he can get a better idea of his situation.

Wesker flicks on his penlight, pulling the fabric away to shine it down on Leon. Now is as good a time to check for signs of recovery as any.

"Too bright-"

He doesn't seem even the slightest bit embarrassed by Leon having pressed into his chest. Perhaps because he's had the man pressed up against him for hours now. Or maybe he doesn't care.

"And take this fucking tape off, this is so annoying."

Wesker tips his head down at the man. "Be glad I have not pinned you to something instead. Or that I did not deliberately leave you in there any longer than I already did."

"yeah, sure. Gold star for you. The not as much of a bitch as you could have been award. I'd give you a round of applause if I could."

It's doubtful Wesker will actually honor any requests made. He's an awful person, after all. But perhaps he has some level of integrity about him.

"Please."

He glances at the man, frowning. "I do not think my facilities will supply as far as the rest, unless you want me to see if anyone happened to bring their child and said child's collection of dolls again. The best I can offer you is a disinfectant cloth. Or perhaps a damp towelette. The latter may be preferable."

Even speaking takes most of what little energy he has, and he slumps forward, almost faceplanting on the desk before managing to fall on his side instead. "Ow."

"Stay," he says, stepping away to the laboratory sink to wet a towel.

He could try and get away while Wesker is gone, but what would be the point? He's tired, and hungry, and tied up. So instead he uses what strength he has to wiggle himself over to a thick book on Wesker's desk, and leans against it for support.

Wesker scowls, staring him down. Freeing Leon is not a smart idea, even if the man is in poor condition. But Wesker doesn't wish to aid the man either.

Which he really really doesn't want. That would be humiliating on every level.

And then the man slices upwards through the tape around bound limbs, the blade coming far too close to his torso for it to be an accident.

"I will allow you your privacy. Do not give me reason to deprive you of it in the future."

"I'm done." He says, pushing the towelette and paper towel off the edge into the trashcan. "Don't suppose you'll let me have some water now?"

Surely he's mocking him by offering.

Leon has half a mind to drink it anyway. He's desperately thirsty, and his hands shake. "Not sure why I'd expect you to hold to the Geneva convention."

"Trust me now?"

"... Thank you," he says softly, in between sips.

"Your condition," he drawls, turning back to Leon. There's a new fervor in his eyes, one that just might be dangerous. "How much do you know about it?"

His jaw snaps shut and he inches back, wary of the look in Wesker's eyes. "Uh. Not much. Only theories I haven't been able to prove. That's why I came here."

"Start talking," he says — it sounds like a demand. "You said you have theories. Perhaps I'd like to study these theories. I have the equipment for testing that I'm certain you wouldn't regularly have access to. Who knows what secrets could be unlocked through study of your....condition?"

He finishes drinking and sets it aside, crossing his arms. "Look, I'm not a scientist. All I can figure is Elpis reacting weirdly to something in me, or Gideon injected me with something while I was unconscious in his Care Center. Any attempts to investigate either of those leads have gone dead."

Wesker eyes Leon consideringly, then grins — the expression that has quickly come to mean he's thinking of something horrible, as per usual. "Perhaps it's a good thing you haven't eaten. No distortion to your baseline. Might as well take advantage of it."

At least he's being sterile about whatever he intends, though the needle he's dropped is wickedly long and thick compared to Leon himself.

"There's a reason I didn't come to you for help, I just wanted to look at your files!"

"So here's your options," he drawls, splayed hand holding limbs firmly down, the heel of his palm pressing uncomfortably down. "You can cooperate, and this will be mostly painless. Or you can squirm and fight, and find out just how cruel I can be. The choice is yours, Mr. Kennedy. I certainly hope you make the right one."

He'll do what he must to keep from being tied up or locked away again. Eventually, he'll have a chance to either escape or contact someone. He has to.

"You might want to sit down," he warns before blood begins rushing from veins into a collection tube, a deep and thick and sanguine red.

"You'll live," Wesker promises. Practically threatens, finally stopping the flow at three-quarters full. "Provided you can handle a little exertion after all this."

Had this as a work in progress for a while, decided to finally finish it.
