She played an active role in the Kaenria cataclysm. Along with Ronova, Asmodeus wiped the inhabitants of the defunct state from the face of Teyvat. Don't you remember what Kaenria is? The other shadows wonder, "Why doesn't the goddess of Space come to the meetings?" The answer is simple: she's simply bored… She considers the other shadows too devoted to Fanet, and devotion takes too much of her strength. In an attempt to preserve herself and her being, the Goddess of Life agreed to a deal with Gold (Rhinedottir), now they are proof that decay and decomposition can be a part of life.

Their thirst for knowledge of life leads them to the brink of humanism and cruelty… Each of their creations is the very embodiment of uniqueness and disgust. Perhaps they are even… in pain, but the Goddess of Life cares little for that.

They speak more actively than all the other Shadows at meetings, and also… They watch over mortals, pondering what next test to send upon their bodies… And will they withstand the illnesses bestowed by the left hand of the Goddess?

Their actions and words are fickle and chaotic, for within them there is an eternal struggle for dominance over body and actions. One part is calm and merciful in its own way, but the other… It is the eternally rotting, mad scholar of Khaenri'ah.

They eternally strive for perfection in their understanding of life and existence. For them, the lives of mere mortals are simply a long-term experiment, of purely scientific interest. When the Elizar disease struck Sumeru, they watched the suffering of the people with the interest of eternal observers and recorded it.

The Goddess of Death is unmatched in cruelty and mercilessness. Death, or its complete absence, is the instrument with which she punishes the unfit. Everyone knows what happened when the people of Khaenri'ahns displeased the Goddess and are now doomed to suffer forever.

She detests the very essence of life and existence of any mortal creature on Teyvat. Be it a butterfly fluttering and collecting pollen or a simple worker. Death is what is truly beautiful and is the highest form…of freedom.

Xbalanque, the first Pyro Archon of Natlan, managed to intrigue the Goddess of Death. Through a contract in which the ruler of the Land of Wars gave up part of his soul, Ronova allowed him to control the resurrection system in Natlan. But everything has a price, so after each such resurrection, a person loses part of their soul and, accordingly, part of themselves…becoming, in essence, a walking corpse.

She does not control time—she is time in all its possible manifestations.

She is the wind, she is the thread between beginning and end. She is the eternal accountant.

Compared to the other Shadows of Fanet, Astaroth is calmer, one might even say indifferent in a way. She has nowhere to rush, for ultimately, all of Teyvat flows according to her temporal laws.

She was sung about in the Mondstadt and Enkanomiya, with sacrifices being made to her. Children born with the mark of "Thoratsa" (blind) were offered to Astaroth as a gift from those who worshiped her.

Her hair is a river of time, and her face counts down a long, eternal time. Other Shadows of Fanet pray that one day… Astaroth's clock will not strike its final stroke.

If a traveler is "lucky" enough to see Astaroth… it is a death sentence. Among the Old Believers of Mondstadt, rumors circulate that one day… A monk who worshiped Astaroth saw her herself reflected in the water's surface. The goddess was disappointed by the monk's insolence, so she knocked off part of his predestined lifespan, and he died a week after the sight, blind.
