Mint is an easy to source and easy to grow herb, making it amazing for witchcraft! You can use it in foods, drinks, decorations, scent pouches, and it can even be found in personal products like hair and skin care and cosmetics. It comes in many different varieties as well and they're all fairly hardy making them a perfect starting herb for people as well!

Mint brings many properties into workings, most notably a boost in energy. It's very lively and has a strong, uplifting, energetic scent to it. This also makes it great to cleanse the mind and space as well and call forth more positive energies.

Its vigor also makes it great for bringing in healing and protective energies as well. The roots of mint plants are very durable and some even say that it can completely take over an area if you're not careful. When I transplant mint, I am not the most delicate with bound roots because it will flourish regardless.

Being associated with the air element, it also makes it great to include in any workings dealing with communication. It can help stimulate better communication and give strength to your communication. Being associated with air also lends it a helping energy for travel workings and spells as well.

Even for the mundane, mint is very useful when sick or anxious. It is believed that mint can help calm anxiety and help ease brain fog. Mint tea is also a popular drink for colds and sore throats. Mint extracts are even used in medicines for all sorts of purposes.

Certain people should not consume various types of mint though. People who have GERD or organ transplants for example are advised to not ingest mint. As with everything, always consult medical professionals if you are unsure of any drug interactions, even if they seem harmless. Coming from personal experience of almost putting myself in a coma due to interactions with a common anti-depressant and common pain relievers, always double check!

Today is my birthday so here's some witchy ways to celebrate your birthday! Several of these are closet friendly too!

Color magic! I am wearing red today to bring in some energy and vitality this year. You could wear blue to attract calmness and tranquility, yellow for happiness and big happenings, green for luck and growth, etc.

Wishes! A traditional birthday celebration, but also witchy! Blow out candles, burn a bay leaf, or use some salt!

Divine messages for your personal new year. Tarot, shufflemancy, runes, throwing, whatever you wish.

Spend time with gratitude. Make time to feel joy, happiness, love. I know birthdays can be really difficult which is why it's so important to find time to feel a little joy.

Go outside and recharge in nature!

Get a basil plant to welcome prosperity. Get a rosemary plant to welcome good memories and love. Or any other plant with intentions that you want to bring in.

Drink water! Dehydration is bad! Trust me.

Eat something sweet to bring some sweetness in your year!

(Don’t get me wrong, it’s super good to learn the basic information first imo! But if you’re searching for more, you’ve found the place!)

1. Can’t buy candles to seal your spell jars? Or maybe ran out? Fear not, because you can use crayons as a replacement! They are made of wax too, and they absolutely work just the same! I wouldn’t recommend lighting one as a spell candle because I feel like it could easy catch something on fire. (Thankfully, however, candles thankfully aren’t super expensive so if you have a few dollars you can def buy some. I’d recommend going to a hobby lobby, Michael’s, dollar tree, etc.) Please be careful if you do this!

2. Adding on to the post above, If you are pagan and/or anybody who worships the gods, don’t turn to witchtok for research! I’d highly recommend watching YouTube videos and (if you can find them) documentaries (I’ll link some YouTubers at the end!). Like spells, misinformation about the gods is super easy to misinterpret or just get wrong. I saw a post on Pinterest one time that said “THE GODS ARE NOT MAD AT YOU! Unless you killed someone or burned down a temple”. And yes, that is very true. The gods won’t ever be mad at you for messing up! But if you are going to take the time to worship a deity, I believe you should do thorough research and preparing. It will also help strengthen your bond!

3. “Do I need to label myself as a specific kind(s) of witch?” Not at all! In my opinion and experience, calling yourself a specific kind of witch and only practicing one or a small few kinds of magick is only just limiting yourself and your power. If having a label makes you feel comfortable, and you do only want to learn specific types of magick, you absolutely can call yourself whatever you’d like!!! But, we as witches have so much power, so why limit yourself when you can thrive wherever your interests lead you? (It took me a very long time of trying to find the perfect magick label and not feeling fully seen to realize I can just be whoever I want to be.)

4. Most witches dislike the term “baby witch”. I can’t speak for anyone, but in my experience and a former “baby witch” labeler myself, I felt weird calling myself a “baby witch”. I’m an adult, and it subconsciously made me feel like I was helpless and unable to do anything effectively. I believe that if you aren’t someone under the age of 11, you shouldn’t call yourself a baby witch. If you aren’t under the age of 12, it’s just kind of weird. Other witches feel free to drop your opinions, too. I’d recommend using “beginner witch” instead!

5. If you haven’t heard before: TAKE WITCHTOK WITH A GRAIN OF SALT! I made that mistake as an early beginner witch, and I learned (and now trying to unlearn) a lot of misinformation. A lot of my spells were off, because the way I was doing it was either highly miscommunicated and wrong, or the person sharing didn’t research properly, or research at all! Yes, there ARE quite a few witches on TikTok who give out the correct information to a T. But you gotta learn how to tell between genuine and ingenuine information. Learn your basic witchcrafting tips first (color magick, herb usage, etc.) and THEN reach for witchtok.

6. Never underestimate bathing magick! Showers and baths (whether salt, herbal, etc.) are wonderful for draining negative energies from you and filling you with positive or intentional energy! Glamour magick could absolutely thrive alongside this as well.

7. Don’t use random sigils from online! Do NOT trust the listed intention written about a homemade sigil, you never know the true intentions of the person who created it. I push this so much because I had a very bad experience with this as a beginner witch. I decided to draw a few “protective” and “positive energy” sigils from Pinterest and TikTok on myself, and had the worst 24 hours of my life. Back to back panic attacks, energy drainage, everything around me going wrong, etc. and I learned months later that I had basically just gotten myself hexed. Plus having my energy drain so rapidly was not a fun experience, and I also had to spend 5 hours sitting in a car with my brother and mom, which I hate doing.

8. You don’t need to memorize every tarot card meaning! When bought, most decks will come with a guidebook for a reason, and if it didn’t there’s guides online. It’ll make your readings a lot easier. Also, the rule where you must be gifted your first tarot deck is completely false. I bought both of my decks and they work perfectly. I’d suggest Barnes & Nobel.

I finished this book in 1 day, and boy, was it good!

At first, I thought the main character, Violet, was going to be one of those whiny characters that tend to be in fantasy (I know a man didn't write this, but at the beginning, I was worried it was going to feel like it) I genuinely love how badass she is. She's got this disease where she's pretty fragile, but she's so smart! She knows that she can poison and weaken her opponent, which is great for this fucked up quadrant she's in (think divergent in that they are broken up into abilities to serve their country), but she can't always poison the enemy ahead of time.

Her mom is horrendous. Don't even get me started. Forcing your daughter to join the Riders (riding dragons to protect the country) when you know her bones are fucked up, just because the rest of your children joined?! People bully her because they believe she's the weakest link in their group, and keep trying to kill her off, but unsuccessfully.

Her “best friend,” who joined the year before, has this memory power, but only through touch. I KNEW HE WAS A SNAKE THE WHOLE TIME. Fucking Dain, I knew something was off with him, and I was right! That fucker was looking at her memories without her knowing. Xaden, on the other hand? 🥵 Shadow Daddy, for sure. He's stupidly hot, bright, and so fucking protective. Did he want to kill her at first? Yup. Absolutely enemies to lovers, though, to almost enemies at the end!

She gets 2 fucking dragons!!! One is the most powerful dragon, and the other is a baby golden dragon, my absolute favorite. I love both of them, honestly. 

One of my favorite characters fucking dies?!?! After she had already saved his life? Fucking bullshit and Dain gets to live?! So not fair. “It’s been. My honor.” 😭

So Xaden lies to Violence (his nickname for her) about working with the “enemy,” but it's because they're all dying from this thing from their fairytale, and the government won't do shit about it. Of course, they know, but they're hiding the fact that civilians are being murdered. I get that she's upset by his lies; it's totally justified on both ends. He lied about her dead brother being alive, though?! Idk how she'll forgive him for that, because the book ends right there!
