#Mermay 2 - Worried [desliza para ver el proceso] La segunda de mis sirenas, es una chica que era feliz viviendo entre su cama de algas marinas, hasta que se encontró con desperdicios de plásticos enredados en su cola. 😫🚮 Una de mis actividades favoritas en la playa es #beachcleaning y cada vez que veo una oportunidad en mis playas más cercanas de hacerlo, participo porque me encanta mantener nuestro lugar de disfrute y relax súper limpio. Este 22 de Mayo me toca otra vez! 🌊🏖🧹 Es tan importante que seamos conscientes de nuestro medio ambiente, sobretodo porque hay muchas formas de dañar y poca voluntad de mejorarlo día a día. 🎧🎙 Por ejemplo, en el último episodio que grabamos de episodio de @creatividadenn nuestra invitada @ifithestylist compartió, que no solo el desecho de plásticos y comida ensucia nuestros oceanos pero también la ropa, vestidos y hasta tela que no consumimos, termina en verterderos que dan hacia ríos y mares. — New week, who dis? 😞😒😠💪🏽🤨 ⠀⠀ I was thinking about Serena’s game this past weekend (can’t believe the game went that way, and it hurts cuz Im a fan of her game), and then I got this Venus quote in my inbox, that really made me put things in perspective for how tired and defeated I was feeling this morning 😓 ⠀⠀ Why? Well, I’m still trying to get back in rhythm after Dorian, following up on emails, sending invoice reminders that haven’t been paid yet, and continuing to push creative mode on a couple of new ideas. There’s 2 events that are due at the end of the month. Plus, I’m still in the process of upgrading my shop website... ⠀⠀ But #motivation is a tricky thing, at least for me, that no matter how tired I can feel, feeling down is what keeps me pushing forward to making things work, aiming for the best. It’s when I produce my best work, when fine tune the details to make anything that comes out of my brain and my computer spark and shine. ⠀⠀ Winning (or metaphorically getting all aces on our serves) instead can be a little distracting, a little too comfortable to use to make ourselves improve. Don’t get me wrong, getting a win 🏆 feels awesome! I was drawing this piece right around the #Oscars but I got so busy with work that I wasn’t able to finish in time. Nevertheless, the reason why I wanted to post this portrait is because of one word: representation. It’s so important to have representation in every sector of society, most importantly in visual media, which is the faster way to receive it. I feel so proud a movie like #Roma was able to reach farther than a few Latino movies ever have, in a accessible format ( #Netflix ) and bringing up a different perspective. Different for those that unlike us, didn’t grow up with a diverse group of people that become family as the years go. One of my ways to practice good self-care, especially when I’m running out of time, is to start using my saved resources. You know that time when the deadlines are tight and ideas are short? Well, instead of killing myself drawing 1000 thumbnails from scratch without taking a break, I consult what I call my “cheat book”. /// The Cheatbook/// It’s just a very nicely bound sketch book of old drawings and ideas that are glued or drawn directly on it, remnants of old projects that didn’t make the cut or that helped jumpstart other illustrations, but that I still can refer from. It really saves my time and gets my ideas going without having to waste my time staring at a blank piece of paper. This just an idea, one of many, that can help with those so needed breaks while working on a project... do you have ideas of your own to help when crunch time is around?
