One of the prettiest- most aesthetically pleasing coffee shops I've been to in Akron. Blasting Head and the Heart every time I go in- from Buckeye lattes to Turtle Mochas. This place has been around for 2 years now and has won many awards for best coffee shops in Akron.

I know this one might not be •Akron Only• but A&W is one of the best burg/coney sites Akron has. This A&W specifically gives you extra fries- I’m sure of it.

Another one of ~highlands~ classics is Wally Waffles- the best waffle place in Akron, Ohio. My personal favorite is the Buckeye Waffle (not pictured here because I was obviously feeling French Toast)- but seriously if you're in the Akron/Highland area you •have• to head to Wallys for a Waffle n some famous Wally fries.

You know all 4 seasons: Almost Winter, Winter, Still Winter, and Construction [currently in Construction].

You know what a real buckeye is, and have a recipe for candy ones.

You know that Serpent Mound was not made by snakes.

My favorite lil spot in Highland, Angel Falls Coffee Shop. Seriously the cutest place and you can take your picture outside on this pretty artwork on their building. Highland is known for their hipster-aesthetic art and it's the perfect place to explore. This is usually the first place I take my friends who are visiting Akron for the first time.

One of my all-time favorite Akron spots is Highland Square. It's almost like hipster central from the bars to the coffee shops, the Mustard Seed to the record store. This place holds a lot of the greatest hidden treasures or Akron. There's never a dull evening in Highland Square. We finally hit 70 degrees today and I am more than sure that the night in Highland will be filled with outdoor concerts, dancing and mingling. This spot is well-known to all Akron residents and only some can see the beauty in the broken here. It is a bit rundown and a little crazy- but I'm sure after visiting once you will be able to love it as much as me. Post your favorite memories of Highland Square- throughout the coming week I'll be digging deeper into the hometown-hotspot and sharing with you my favorite spaces.

I’ve lived in Akron my whole life. I love this city and all the things that make it unique. From theaters to coffee shops, from Lebron James to the Black Keys. I’ve dreamed about moving away, going to a bigger city or somewhere warm, but no place will ever compare to Akron. I plan to explore all the nooks and crannies of this city that holds my heart and document every experience. I know from the outside Akron doesn’t seem like anything special, it’s just another city, just another town. I truly believe that if you have been born and raised in Akron you know what hometown pride really is.

I can’t wait to share all the fun places I find in Akron, many that are well known and often visited and some places that are unique and special to only a few people. I look forward to hearing why people love this city and what exactly it is that makes this place home for them.
