Where the Madness begins

A simple statement. Not a question. Not an accusation, but a simple, fact.

A fact that made her heart clench in pain.

Dove let out a tired sigh as she poked the fire in their camp, Lane's eyes not once moved from her slumped figure.

"Even if I miss him, they doesn't change the fact I was the one who ended it. He probably hates me as well."

An experssated sigh mix with a groan echoed throughout the camp.

"What if he doesn't? What if this all has been one faint misunderstanding because none of you wish to communicate, like a normal couple? "

Silence fell upon the two, the cricket could be heard chirping in the background. the moon slowly hiding among the clouds allowing the fireflies to shine brighter in the darkness.

Dove could not help but be grateful for the lack of light as she knows what was written on her face.

Guilty.

Festering in her heart, mind and soul. The day where they finally went their seperate ways replayed vividly in her mind. His harsh yet broken voice, the tears and hoarsed throat from the lump her throat to stop herself from crying her heart out as she stepped out of Monstatd.

Not daring to look back at the gates knowing he was there watching her walk away.

"You will need to face him at some point, since we'll be going back to Mons. "

"Or you know, we could avoid him-"

"Dove."

".... It was a suggestion-"

"You can't avoid him for the rest of you life. Face him like a man. "

"But I'm a woma-. "

"ALRIGHT!"

Lou stood up suddenly, his fists shaking by his side as he looked at Dove. Letting out a shaky sigh she was holding back.

"Look, I wish I have the courage to talk to him, to tell him I still want him. But have you heard the rumors. He is the hot shot, one of the bachelors of Mond, aside Diluc. I... I just don't wish to get my hopes up, especially for him. Especially him."

"And I don't think we can be friends if he does not feel the same, because-"

Fidgeting with her finger as she looked down at her lap. Her chest tightening, almost suffocating manner.

"My heart cannot handle it."

Groaning loudly in frustration from the situation her heart had put herself into.

"I am aware that vengeance is a path of no return, but how can I sit here idle knowing that the men behind the massacre of my people are run amok.

How can I just sleep knowing that maybe that history might repeat itself if they ever find us again."

"How can I?-"

"I believe that the after-life will give punishment to those who did wrong, but that will not give closure to my people to continue to live their lives here, peacefully."

"If I have to become a criminal, a murder, a MONSTER just to give them the peace,

So be it. "
