first of all they were talking about how like, in the 1500s? some colonizers were treking the desert and came across the grand canyon for the first time (i.e. first time for non-indigenous people). and these guys see this canyon and they're all like "oh shit" but the lead guy is like "oh... maybe this isn't so bad as it looks, the canyon could be smaller than it appears" so they spend 3 days trying to look for a way to climb straight down the canyon cliff, and then after failing go "well, this canyon is impassable. there is literally no way to navigate this hellish place at all. this canyon, will forever best us foolish humans, for it is stronger than us" and the show is like "and he said this, even though....... there were native americans living in the grand canyon. like several different groups of them"

and then it jumps to the 1850s, and this one soldier guy apparently is the first non-native person in 300 years to go "no... there MUST be a way to navigate this canyon!!!" so he decides to get a boat and take a bunch of men to try and sail the river inside the canyon. this guy was fucking determined to cross the river, it was his life's mission. he was ready for anything ...but then apparently the rapids of the river just rip his boat to fucking shreds. so he and his men have to walk ALL the way back the way they came. and he goes "not ONLY is this canyon impassable and unnavigable, but perhaps it is some punishment from hell itself...? is this some sort of mockery from god himself??" meanwhile the indigenous people are like "uh.............no?"

Then neo-fascism reared its head in America, but Roma and Jews were left out of the conversation in terms of people being impacted, because our oppression was “over.”
