MIYA ATSUMU wakes up from his peaceful slumber with sudden jolt— he realizes that he was sleeping on his stomach with one arm under a pillow and one arm above it, which was odd considering that he remembers falling asleep with you wrapped in his arms. Propping himself up, Atsumu picks up his phone on his nightstand to check the time, the harsh light from his phone making his eyes squint slightly.
3:22 AM, his clock reads.
Atsumu set his phone down as quietly as he could and turns to the other side of the bed, finally facing you. You were sound asleep, curled up in a ball underneath your shared. blanket. Even with your hair messy and your face smushed against a pillow, Atsumu thinks that you are the cutest person alive. He smiles softly at your sleeping form and gently moves a stray hair out out of your face, the contact of his hand causing you to stir slightly.
“Tsumu,” your voice barely comes out as a whisper, albeit a bit raspy. Atsumu could have sworn he felt his heart stop beating. Your eyes flutter open, immediately being greeted by your boyfriend who was already looking at you. You lazily smile back at him, wiping your eyes to get a clearer look at his face, “Why are you staring at me like that?”
Atsumu quirks an eyebrow, “Like what?”
You giggle to yourself, not sure if you were just a little bit delirious from waking up in the middle of your sleep. You still could barely make out the expression on his face and it definitely didn’t help that your only light source came from the nearest streetlight outside your apartment. “You look a little creepy, staring at me while I sleep.”
“Well, it’s your fault for bein’ so cute,” Atsumu chuckles. He could really feel the butterflies in his stomach now. Not being able to resist you anymore, he leans in to nuzzle his nose against yours and then peppers you with what feels like hundreds of kisses. The sound of your laugh only eggs him on to plant more kisses on your face, and in return, you place your hands on his cheeks to hold him still, quickly capturing his lips in for a passionate kiss.
You both stay like that for a few minutes. Atsumu relishes the feeling of your hands on his face and your soft lips moving against his, he couldn’t help but try to bring your body impossibly closer to his. To your disappointment, Atsumu pulls away from the kiss. He just wants to look at you once more; a smirk forming on his lips when he notices the flustered look on your face and the slight pout that you tried so hard to hold back.
He caresses your cheek with his hand, as his trademark smirk melts back into the soft smile and lovesick stare that he has been giving you. Well, he always looked at you that way, even before you started dating him. With one last peck one your nose, Atsumu finally settles within the comfortable silence and lays down right next to you. He encases your body with his own and lets out a content sigh when he feels you bury your face deep into his chest.
Atsumu’s love for you truly knows no bounds, as you feel his chest heave with every breath that lulled him back to sleep and listen to his heart that beats just for you.
