There's been a lot of debate about the Madame Vice President Elect Kamala Harris' Vogue magazine (February 2021) cover and I have three cents.

While I understand Kamala is not a first lady and will be the first female Vice President, I think she's still worthy of the glamour and over top editorial styling, that comes with the glossy.

With Vogue already battling with the manner in which their employees of color are treated and how Black women are depicted in their pages, I think it was a missed opportunity to celebrate such a monumental moment with a high profile Black woman. After all, the world is watching.

I've read that Kamala styled herself and I understand the message she's trying to convey with the suits and down to earth relatable look. She wants to be viewed as a woman of the people. Not far removed from the constituents she's sworn to serve and taken seriously. But darling you are worthy of glamour, pampering, dressing in high fashion and just overall glowing for the girls.

Black women, we are strong and can do hard things but we are also deserving of being soft, delicate even and handled with care. We deserve to normalize luxury and existing even for a moment, out of our comfort zones and the harsh realities of the world and feeling like we're in a fairytale.
