But if Leith were to propose to Harley with a real ring, would he use a diamond or a gemstone? If so, then what gemstone would it be?

HMMMM...

I think it either would be a simple golden ring with an engraved message on the inside or a ring with... blue sapphire. Maybe blue zircon or lapis lazuli

But in their situation yep he'd definitely steal the ring from a random corpse. He would look around for the prettiest ring possible and still try to engrave a message using machines in the factory

Hello! I have a question about the scar on Leith's eyebrow, does he suffer short term memory problem because of it? I ask as my father has the exact same scar and it rests on a pressure point associated with memory(which he does have problems with)
