Wednesday evening scribbles

While you're lying flat on your back Staring at the star-sprinkled sky Feeling tingly, cold, wet grass Feeling ever so small in this grand universe Remember this one important thing Never stop dreaming As you're running to the water In the steamy dusk of a summer night A light, warm breeze chasing you And cool, smooth pebbles under your feet Whether you're with friends or alone Remember this one important thing Never stop dreaming When you feel the world falling above you And your legs are dancing in the air As you're swinging back and forth on the playground You are head over heels Remember this one important thing Never Stop Dreaming

One last time, he turns and looks at his home. His tearful gaze says goodbye but he is not alone. He takes her hand and the little ones follow. This is a pain that is hard to swallow. They carry not only their belongings but their beliefs and their souls. Desperation drives them under the weight of heavy tolls. Their dreams have been stolen by those who've lost themselves in greed. The agony continues, the fires burn, and the innocent bleed. Their faces are stained with despair...yet their faith is enough. Somehow he forges on, with his family's strength and love. Across oceans and deserts they go in hopes of arriving at a new home. Their tearful gazes say goodbye but they are not alone.

Sending chills down my spine It waited until the moment was right Carelessly I stood beside its open window of opportunity Allowing it to penetrate It mocked me And drove me near madness It sequestered me from the peace I'd felt my entire life And its menacing tentacles squeezed hopeful life from me As I descended into darkness A darkness from which I still hope to recover
