He was cold- but that didnât surprise him anymore. Heâd been cold for a long time. Connor wasnât entirely sure when heâd heard of the ex-cop whoâd checked in at the hotel, but it made his stomach twist in an uncomfortable way whenever he saw him walking. But he had to work past that fear- he had to get better. Somehow. So why not talk to him? Even if it sounded like an unbelievably stupid idea. âDo you miss it?â he found himself asking as he approached the other male, a somewhat curious expression on his face. Despite everything that had happened in Philadelphia, he missed being a law student- so maybe this was the same.
Living in New York was not like how Jason had ever envisioned it. Louisiana didn't really have much in the way of cities. Even then, Shreveport, New Orleans and Baton Rouge were all way out of New Yorkâs league. That he had learned on the first day when he had nearly gotten lost on his way to the Tipton. He was still prone to getting lost if he chose to walk anywhere. Bless the cab drivers who were willing to bring him back when he went too far on a run. Jason looked at the guy who came up to him as he sat in the lobby and shifted. âMiss what? Being a cop? Or being in a small town.â He rubbed at the back of his neck.
