Do you mostly read fiction or non-fiction?
2. Is reading for pleasure part of your daily routine? If so, how much time a day do you spend on reading?
I try to, but I rarely manage to read every day, unless I'm also in the middle of reading some fic. I love reading to wind down at the end of a long day or to kill time, but I don't always find the energy/time to do so. If I get to it, though, I usually spend 1-2 hours reading at a minimum.
3. Do you often binge books?
Only when I can't wait to finish it for whatever reason (I'm intrigued, it's getting on my nerves) or if I'm impatient to get to the next one. I prefer to take it slowly and enjoy every word —sometimes I'll just reread a paragraph if something caught my attention/I found the prose especially beautiful/etc.
4. Describe your average reading session 😁 (Do you have a special spot where you get comfortable, is it a hard copy or an e-book, is it day or night, etc.)
I don't have any special spots at the moment, I just lie down on the sofa or on my bed and read. Hopefully, this summer I'll be able to enjoy once again my egg chair and the view from there during my reading sessions. =)
And yes, all I read are physical copies except for fics, which are on my phone.
5. Do you have a schedule or do you read when you feel like reading?
I read whenever I feel like reading, but after lunch at the weekend it's normally a good time to read.
6. Have you ever struggled with reading (e.g. issues with concentration/retaining information, learning disabilities etc.) and how did you manage to overcome it?
I have. I just waited for it to pass until I could enjoy things like reading again.
7. Can you read multiple books at once?
I can but I don't unless I have a reason —e.g. I'm reading a book in French and it's going extremely slow, so I'll take a second book to be able to read for longer stretches of time whenever I have the urge; or if I'm going on a trip and the book I'm reading is too heavy, I'll take a thinner one with me.
8. If you're multilingual, do you intentionally choose to regularly read books in your target language(s) to maintain language proficiency? Is it a habit too, or is it a matter of the book's original language?
I do, I like switching between Spanish and English. I also try to read in French once in a while so as not to forget everything I've learnt.
9. How do you usually choose books for your to-read list?
Whatever fits my mood when the time comes. Sometimes I'll start the year thinking about the books I want to read, but it's not set in stone.
10. Do you keep track of the books you've read/plan to read?
I do since I got on Goodreads. It's great to actually remember the things I want to read about.
11. Do you consider reading manga/comics "reading"?
12. Do you often find yourself in a reading slump? How long did your ultimate slump take?
Not often, but I've had very long slumps. From my last year of high school to perhaps 4-5 years ago, I didn't manage to read more than 1-2 books a year if any. I still don't read as much as I did in my teenage years, but this year I finally have a good feeling about it.
