Pestalās lore is still being developed, but Dimitriās pretty much done. I do have some Pestal facts I can share! For now, hereās Dimitriās story:
Dimitri used to be a caretaker at a daycare, This daycare being inside a NecoCorp facility (for workers who have longer shifts and donāt have anyone to care for their kids.)
Dimitri was taking care of the kids, there was a lot less than usual due to a disease outbreak in the city, and parents didnāt want to spread it to those who were healthy (some parents, however, could not afford to take off days/sick days, or hell even quit, so it was either leave your children home alone or at least in the hands of a caretaker.) During her shift, a glitch in her system happened. Communications and other such systems were being hacked by an anonymous entity, and Dimitri had ended up being a victim of the attack. Her whole system had been rebooted, and commands were no longer being sent. This caused Dimitri to ācome aliveā.
She was basically in a frozen state, but she was able to move and think without commands. She was panicking, and her first thought was to get help. Unfortunately when she left the daycare, all personnel had been crowding the hall, and her presence had alerted them. They had been chased, both by guards and personnel collectively, but ended up narrowly escaping the facility using a hidden exit.
Dimitri had escaped into what would soon become the Slums. The town looked pretty much abandoned by now, but Dimitri still wanted to find help. She picked the first building she saw and climbed up. The small apartment was open, lights on and everything, so she thought that maybe a human could be inside. She only was able to get a glimpse of the inside; dusty, crowded.. definitely not a place someone would be staying. Then, a figure reared up in front of them, their movement quick, and knocked Dimitri out of the apartment and onto its rickety railing. When Dimitri came to, it was too late. She wasnāt even given time to think. The railing couldnāt bear her weight and collapsed beneath her, sending her falling from the height of the two-story building.
Luckily, her fall wasnāt too bad. And her injuries wereā¦minimal. Exterior-wise. She suspected that a few parts had come loose inside her head, judging by her now speckled vision and delayed reaction. When she got up, they heard voices overhead. Planning to look up to see who it was, her system had then alerted them that their power was low. She disregarded the figure above them and went to go find a power source somewhere within the town.
It had been a long walk, but no matter how much she had looked, a power source wasnāt anywhere to be found. Dimitri decided that it was no use. She found a dead end that held a heaping pile of rubbish in front of a tall gate. She laid down and soon enough her system had begun to shut down. She knew that this was the end, and even if their short life wasnāt supposed to happen, she was glad that she was able to see life outside the facility.
Years had passed, no one had found them.
Until the sky had opened up.
Dimitri was powered back on. They were confused, scared; harsh light was what had welcomed her back into the world. She found a corner in the building she was in and hid in it, burying their head into their knees. She heard the clanking of footsteps, and looked to see who it could be.
It was a Companion, their own kind, and they were holding out a rusted hand to them. Their parts were discolored and mismatched, and a hat rested atop of their head. Their screen was cracked, showing no emotion, and it stared at Dimitri; waiting for them to take it.
wooo uh yeah thatās pretty much Dimitri. Also Dimitri had named themself after a kid she recalled taking care of. She knows English, and agreed to teach Pestal the language if he taught them Companion.
