Harris Sinclair isn't an unrealistic character. In my experience, people who see themselves as progressive don't mind Black and Brown people existing away from them, but balk at the idea of beige grandchildren.

LIKES TO CHARGE REBLOGS TO CAST
you people aren't CASTING
I can very much relate to this and all jokes aside, I know the reason why I read more fanfics than original novels is because Iβm here for the characters I already know, love, and am passionate about. with original novels, I donβt know who these characters are, Iβm not passionate enough about getting to know them. which is the same reason why I donβt read fics with ocs either. which is not to say original novels and ocs are bad. but personally, Iβm only here for my comfort fictional men being put in Situations
The King donβt play about his Queen!!!
on a non-angsty note, Johnny had literally no reason to say he cut his lip while hatekissing Blake. bro could've come up with any other lie and he chose the gayest one

we've all cried and mulled over "i don't wanna burn... again" and don't get me wrong beautiful quote, beautiful scene, all the love to that one
but not enough people are talking about
"i thought you'd left"
"...i don't think i can."
AND THEN THE FUCKING SHOW JUST ENDS WTF
what. does. it. mean. is it just the fact that he's tied there spiritually because of the memories? or is it that he has some kind of mission? i want to understand so badly bro help
and he gives carrie that look, like that empty look we've seen throughout the show when he's angry or disappointed. she doesn't seem terribly surprised to see him either and i think that's telling.
i wanna know who the fuck is to blame for johnny's "i don't wana burn again" line. that was sick. the was diabolical. evil. twisted. i hate you.
We Were Liars is a good case study in the effects of having a narcissistic parent on the sibling bond. The Sinclair sisters can't ever be truly close because Harris has made it clear that there's not enough love or money to go around, even though technically, he should have more than enough of both. But he likes having his daughters at each other's throats because it means he's still the main character and has all the power.
MAJOR SPOILERS FOR WE WERE LIARS AND SUNRISE ON THE REAPING!!!!
If I had a nickel for every time that Joseph Zada played a character who lives with their mom and younger brother who loses two of his loved ones to an intentionally set house fire I would have two nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice right?
iβm so obsessed with the Sinclair sisters I cannot express how much they fascinate me.
Because like really think about this they all hate themselves and they all donβt understand how to process that feeling and they all find their own flavour of self destruction to help them deal with that pain
Carrie is the eldest, the one who feels she should have been looking after Rosemary better. She hates herself for not being Harrisβs daughter, for not having his chin, for not being as good as her sisters and not being worthy of Pfeffs undivided attention. She takes drugs to dull the edges. She rejects her own pain so thoroughly she makes it everyone elseβs problem to deal with. Even down to what happens to Pfeff himself- she rejects the pain of his rejection so much everyone else has to deal with it. She expresses over and over that sheβs miserable and gets all the attention she asks for and it never once makes her happy.
Then we get beautiful middle child Penelope Taft. She hates herself for being gay, for not being able to force herself straight, for not knowing what to do with her beauty that wouldnβt make her feel like an alien in her own skin. She sees her older sister throwing all that pain outwards and she draws her own deep, deep into herself. She starves herself and forces herself to marry a man and have a child and perform as the prettiest Sinclair girl in the family. She made her heart smaller and smaller and smaller until she was a nothing more than a shell filled with panic and barely suppressed tears. She hides her true self behind her sharp wit because itβs so much easier than being seen but she is so desperately and unendingly lonely.
Finally we come to Bess. Perfect Bess, always a little too young to join in, always running twice as fast just to barely keep up. She hates herself for never being enough for her sisters to bother with, for not being able to fill the gap left by Rosemary, for being the youngest at all. She takes all that hate and makes it perfectionistic resentment. She creates a life that belongs on the cover of a homemaking magazine and talks down to anyone else who canβt match her. She created the absolute pinnacle of what she thinks a woman should be, she makes sure she measures up in every capacity and cannot stand that they still donβt want her anyway. She tilts her strong jaw back and fills the outline she thinks was drawn for her and she is so so tired.
Every single one of them wishes for what the others have in some capacity; Penny wishes she could be as brave as Carrie is, Bess wishes she was as magnetic as Penny is and Carrie wishes she was as perfect as Bess. None of them can see theyβre all wrapped in exactly the same chains as each other. None of them have noticed the padlocks all have the same key.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (2023) dir. Francis Lawrence
What do you mean wiress came out of the arena without a scratch on her? What do you mean she didn't get into a single fight? What do you mean she sat in that blindspot for an hour letting the hovercraft try to find her? My girl single handedly dealt out one of the biggest 'fuck you's to the games and the Capitol and im too scared to imagine how she was punished for it.
president snow is literally THE incel. had a failed situationship ONCE and decided that no woman could ever love a man and that women cannot be trusted
warned haymitch about lenore dove
was convinced katniss didnβt love peeta
64 years later and he was still bitter
Haymitch and Peeta happily in love with girls who can sing:
Snow:
I think the most depressing thing about sunrise on the reaping is how it shifts everything we know so far. We spent so long feeling bad for Katniss and Peeta just to find out they didnβt even have the worst of it. The original hunger games trilogy was just the tip of the goddamn ice berg.
I rewatched the first movie and I cried so much harder than usual because I know this was not the first Prim. Not the first Rue. Not by a long shot. And we have no clue the depths of the cruelty.

coriolanus snow projecting his insecurities about covey girls onto 15yo haymitch abernathy will never not be funny to me
Forever grateful that Suzanne Collins wrote TBOSAS in third person because 99% percent of Coriolanus' inner monologue is some variation of "Kicking puppies seems to be disliked by the districts, which is weird because it's second nature to everyone here in the Capitol. I am not like other Capitol boys, but I also refuse to expand my perspective, which limits my empathy, enclosing me into a vicious cycle of ignorance which will turn violent once mixed in with my ambitious nature. I love (dehumanizing and objectifying) my girlfriend. "
