extra: i actually applied a very digimonesque philosophy while designing the main characters for regulus harbor... well digimon in general has always been a gigantic influence for me, just like spyro, but regulus harbor has that "breakfast club" thing too, with each character going for a different aesthetic, and usually choosing two main colors but also having two characters that are often seen together have matching/contrasting color schemes. also the super present color coding
briana+lin=teal and orange. classic summer blockbuster
greta is orange and olive/lime, panuk is red and blue
ingrid is a bright pastel cmy, itsuki is all natural tertiary colors (caramel, forest green and mid-blue)
raavi is vermillion with orange vibes, elijah is violet and wine (sunset!)
danny is vanilla, light red and dark teal, rosa is mint, cherry and yellow (same triadic in different luminosity)
lydia and ishmael's main colors are the same yet inverted, turned inside out (iykyk)
jokesta is designed to stand out against purple bgs and most gloomlings
ilendora has white and every color in the rainbow except purple, which is gakkoros (and he also has brown, grey and black)
finally, none of the main characters wear indigo blue prominently, since most scenes take place at night (and navy blue is really the main rh color along with cyan and purple). the only exception is alexei, who spends most of book 1 hiding or blending in
