In vacuum thermoforming a sheet of thermoplastic is heated up to soften in preparation for molding. The softened sheet is positioned over a mold in preparation to be vacuum sucked down onto the surface of a mold. Afterwards, the formed sheet is removed from the mold, allowed to cool and then readied for further finishing. The products are trimmed off their excess portions and secondary operations follow. Here in this video car bumpers are being vacuum thermoformed. The uneven edge surfaces of the bumpers are unimportant and will be trimmed off at further stages of the production.
