Take a moment and ask yourself, a project like this requires a lot of time, money and dedication of resources, why would scientists dedicate that time to something that could just be done by a tree?

The answer is they wouldn't. So that means this claim requires further investigation!

This project is called LIQUID 3, and it's not meant for cities with wide open spaces, it's meant for cities like Belgrade in Serbia. These cities are densely populated and heavily polluted, to the point where pollution actually chokes out current trees and makes creating green spaces difficult.

Liquid 3 was a PhD scientists answer to these problems. The microalgae tank is intended for spaces where you either:

Don't have enough space to plant full trees, or

Don't have enough time to plant trees and wait for them to grow up.

The tank is extremely efficient when you consider the amount of space needed compared to the amount of CO2 turned into oxygen. The tank can operate throughout the winter. And most importantly, it can be quickly set up in areas that desperately need relief from air pollution NOW not in 10 years when trees are done growing. Children currently suffocating on polluted air can't wait for trees to grow, they need to be taken care of now, and Liquid 3 is one of the ways to take care of them. Depending on the species of microalgea used, a number have shown a pretty amazing capacity to pull heavy metals out of the air which is something trees can get choked up by.

The tanks aren't just tanks either! Liquid 3 have solar panels placed on top, they have lighting and mobile phone charging, and they work as public benches. The designers of it want to encourage green spaces where there's room, but where there isn't room or time, Liquid 3 can step in. Realistically, this isn't a replacement for trees. It's replacing boring metal city benches with new, cooler benches that also clean the air (and have at least some heating during the winter).

Not only that, but the microalgea that grows is native to Serbia and all that microalgea has a ton of great uses! It makes for great fertilizer, compost, wastewater treatment, cleaner biofuels and even for helping create new tanks for further air purification. They only require a quick algae divide once a month, and the produced algae can be carted off to where ever it's needed. This makes them effective solutions for areas that can't sustain complex installations.

..I like her, but it’s irritating that her flaws are kind of glossed over and ignored. To clarify: I read her as being a bit of a people-pleaser and as someone who is overly conflict avoidant. Unless you cross a line or show have the capacity to threaten her family or friends, then she will cut you off and turn your spine into a pretzel.

(It’s not people pleasing! I’m intentionally being like this and showing respect to people :) Quincy should totally be allowed to play music at a ridiculous Volume and to not allow him to do that because it disturbs my sleep is Mean!

Her character, i think, has.. hints? Of her having flaws or edges, but the narrative just doesn’t let you. address them much?

Then you have ones like Kaya where the Drifter is like

Love that Persona 3 vibe where they unintentionally make the plot "To become powerful, you must use the power of friendship. Like. Really use it. Tell everyone exactly what they want to hear. Sculpt who you are to fit each person you speak to. Basically become a manipulative sociopathic changeling so you can get the desired response from everyone around you. This is how friendship works."

Yeah, as far as Love goes, the Warframe KIM chats can be a.. pretty one-sided and toxic version of it? At least it can if you meta-game and solely choose the least conflicting answers possible.

A consequence of the Game Mechanics not allowing the Hex or Triad to help YOU out (aside from chemistry Boosting missions) also extends this to more Physcial signs of affection.

I recall someone mentioning a theory about how the Drifter’s time in Duviri led them to having a very Protagonist-Centered Outlook in the world (both in the ‘only the people I care about matter’ and the ‘I, personally, have to fix EVERYTHING and make sure everyone has a good ending’ way) and I think that’s a fun way of looking at them

..in that the ‘Friendship’ Drifter is cultivating is ultimately, one based in people-pleasing, constant concessions, and avoiding conflict. Which could also be tied to Duviri in the “My Best Friend Thrax responded to any actual disagreement with him repeatedly Executing me, and the Courtiers are pretty temperamental as well, and go on Mental Breakdowns regularly”

The Time-looping (which is in itself a HORRIFIC thing to do to someone, really) can also be seen as a ‘oh shit go back NOW’ button, hit to stop the inevitable execution pushback

I really, really doubt DE actually tookall this into account as far as Drifter’s canonical personality is concerned, but I do like to read their doormat-ish ways, casual ease with killing NPCs and habit of being a therapist as a consequence of their own trauma making them hypervigilant and EXTREMELY driven to keep everyone as happy as possible.

It would be nice if Drifter had someone offer more pushback, and more importantly if Drifter themselves could argue with people. Rather then them constantly have to solve their problems. One of the reasons I liked Roathe was that, for all his incredible bias and prejudice, he seems to offer that to an extent

It's actually cool to have no meaningful agency and for the entire world to be your problem to fix and for all of your friends to basically ignore the horrible situations you come from and go through so long as you're useful to them, don't even look at it don't even examine it

that's actually less fair because Drifter does get to vent about the trauma of being a snuff toy for a thousand years, sometimes, and even gets to shut Arthur down over it, or rage at Quincy for trying to trigger them into telling a story about murdering their parents

not that Drifter's friends really do much more than go "holy shit" a few times and joke about calling you space trauma or whatever. you still hold their hands through everything and they still bitch at you, and once you're out of the main hex you are 100% their therapy-bitch moreso than a friend. but we'll still call it friendship if it gets elemental advantage on the indifference

meanwhile Princess Twilight Lorraine Parker Pancakes Sparkle gets her life planned out since before her birth and is abandoned onto a throne and none of her friends even encourage her to speak out if she had even wanted something else than what Celestia mandated to her

I'm sorry not sorry I am going cross media here and if I had another hand I'd put the Persona 3 protag in this on the whole "My friends aren't actually going to do anything for me nearly as much as I will for them and in the end I exist to be a sacrifice for everyone else's sake regardless of what I had wanted"

There’s something almost delightfully sickening about it, viewed that way. I want the Hex to wrestle with knowledge of not really supporting their best friends or existing in a mostly one-sided relationship.

I want to see them struggle with realizing that they’ve been using Drifter’s power imbalance over them as an excuse to not look out for them. I want to see them see Drifter BREAK then look back at themselves and go ‘oh. We were never there for YOU’

At least Marie and Lyon have the excuses of being Roathe’s (shitty) Albrecht-mandated Warden-therapists. At least Roathe has the excuse of being Orokin- and he’s the only one to really express concern and confusion over how we do everything for others and never look after OURSELVES or be selfish

^ in fact, that’s potentially a really fun dynamic. Drifter encourages Roathe to care about others, Roathe encourages Drifter to grow an actual Spine and practice Self-care, and recognizes their servitude as a form of his whole ‘Victory through submission’ attitude (aka: is a Trauma Response)

There's a scene in Wrath of the Righteous (mechanically a fucking terrible over-tuned game, narratively I think it makes Baldur's Gate 3 look like hot trash) where pompous self-absorbed jackass Daeran calls YOU out on your friendships and stuff and asks who you really are and if you really mean the things you say and if you actually care about him as a friend and you can say basically "I'm just manipulating you, I'm manipulating everyone" and you get like, positive rep with him because game recognizes game and there's a sort of horrid honesty in it

You get it a bit too with Wenduag who holy shit I have never before been outsmarted by a pre-written character in a game, so many games try to guess the player's response and when that fumbles it fumbles bad, Wenduag DID IT and it was the first time in gaming something took the "You're going to maximize the right dialogue options to keep your party members happy regardless of how you actually feel, this character knows it, she's going to trick you into doing it and then call you out on it and brag about how she's too useful to you that you'll basically write excuses for her"

I think that's the only game I've played that really did the thing where you can be a multi-faced say-along with your "friends" and have character specifically designed to let you admit it or call you out on it

because like god, even with the original hex I'll say it: i was really tired of how everyone else gets to yell at me for not grokking their entire personality on day 2, but god forbid i have an opinion

i love Eleanor but her whole line of "a child is a child, conversation over" still pisses me off. I'm sorry Eleanor I think my Operator is like, has been an active child soldier for at least a few decades if not centuries, the timeline is REALLY unclear, but I think if you told my Operator that it is a child my Operator would--well no that's even canon we HAVE the Operator crashing out at Teshin for calling it a child
