Silver burned like a motherfucker. Who knew? Likely other vampires, but Gavin would rather go sunbathing than join some creepy cult. At present, it wasn’t quite warm enough for anyone other than an Eskimo to go sunbathing, but the sun was still a lot more visible than Gavin would have preferred. He made his way to Washington Heights, covered from head to toe in black. His hood was pulled up over the baseball cap and he kept his head tipped down to keep as much of the sun off him as he could.

He could already feel a burn starting on his neck. He tipped his head further and walked faster. He couldn’t believe this whole stupid situation. All because some old biddy had left her crucifix on the wall when she moved out. He remembered trying to give it to her, back before he’d been turned. She’d just smiled and told him to keep it. Stupid woman.

He finally got to Nevada’s office and just walked in, desperate to be out of the sun. Once the door was shut behind him, he turned his attention to his boss.

“Nevada, I need your help.”
