Nexus 4, 10 - An exclusive first look from inside Google HQ
Check out this exclusive from The Verge where Matias Duarte, chief of Android design unveils the new Nexus devices.
The incredible new Nexus line by Google
With the hurricane on the east coast spoiling the Google Nexus party, we expected that Mountain View will make us wait a few more days. Apparently, they did not want to do that. So, Google quietly revamped its entire Nexus line today and showed us the best from their camp.Â
First comes the Nexus 4, an LG built smartphone running Android 4.2 with same specifications as indicated by the leaks - a 4.7 inch 1280x768 display, 2 GB of RAM, a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro chip, an 8 megapixel Sony made BSI camera sensor and  an option for either 8 or 16 GB of storage. Nexus 4 will be available unlocked in the first half of November with the 8 GB version costing $299 and the 16 GB, for fifty dollars more. One notable omission here is LTE, which ironically was present in last year's Samsung built Galaxy Nexus. If we leave this niggle, its a beautiful device, and perhaps one among the handful of phones we've really liked till date.Â

Images of Samsung Google Nexus 10
If the folks at BriefMobile are right, what you see here is the Google Nexus 10 manufactured by Samsung running Android 4.2. Its the larger successor to the Nexus 7 by Asus that launched earlier this year.Â
Important specifications include a 2560*1600 panel in a 10.1 inch display (which means a staggering density of 300 ppi in a tablet), a dual core ARM A15 based Samsung Exynos 5250 CPU with cores running at 1.7 GHz, a Mali T604 GPU, 2 GB of RAM and 16GB of storage (among other options) and 5 megapixel rear camera besides the front shooter.

What to expect from the iPad Mini
Straight to the point - an iPad Mini, a 13 inch Retina Macbook Pro and a tweaked iPad are what expect at Apple's event tomorrow. However, we are more interested in the smaller version of Apple's tablet. So, lets have some fun guessing the device until Apple spoils it with their event. A smaller iPad has been in speculation for well more than a year and a half. However, the rumor gained traction with the launch of Amazon's Kindle late last year and Google's (okay, Asus') Nexus7. Though the dent to Cupertino's bottom line from these two Android bearers is not very significant at this point, Apple would not want to leave itself unprotected, especially when a category it's deeply focusing on - books, needs smaller and less expensive devices.
Google wants to talk Android on Oct 29
In an effort to make October more interesting, Google has announced an Android event on Oct 29. It wants to talk about Jelly Bean's successor and also reveal the next Nexus device (or devices).
To add, we think that the 32GB Nexus7 will also be announced that day. As per leaked screenshots, the 32GB version will be priced at $249, which is price of the current 16GB version. So, it's better to wait for a couple of weeks before you purchase the tablet.Â

Microsoft Surface RT priced starting $499
Almost four months after unveiling the Surface tablets, Microsoft let their pricing out today in what is perhaps an accident. As the Verge reports, the 32GB Surface RT version without touch cover will be sold for $499, with touch cover for $599 and top of the line 64GB version with touch cover will be sold for $699. The touch cover can be purchased separately for $120 and the type cover can be had for $10 more.

Firefox OS - Why we are excited
The smartphone segment has long become a two horse race. Android has grown rapidly in the past few years engulfing the low and mid range smartphone market (almost) entirely and those customers at the high end who value flexibility. iOS on the other hand had success at the high end of the segment and it's market share seems to have stabilized. Modern operating systems such as webOS and Windows Phone came into the market in the last two years, but, they failed to replicate the success of the other two.Â
However, things are quietly changing now. Of the 7 million Lumia's Nokia sold by the end of June, 4 million were bought in Q2 alone. This is an indicator that Windows Phone is gaining more acceptance among consumers. More Windows phones from Nokia, Samsung and HTC will reach the market by the end of this month, and it will surely cement Windows' position in the mobile segment. On another positive note, smart phone customers will have more choice as RIM's make-or-break Blackberry 10 OS will come out in the first quarter of 2013.
Though Microsoft and RIM say that these operating systems would make it to low range smartphones eventually, it's quite clear that mid and high end is the focus for both players now. This is where Mozilla's sees opportunity for its Boot-to-Gecko or as they call it now - Firefox OS mobile operating system.
This may be the next Nexus phone
If reports from Androidandme are to be believed, the above snap is that of the next Nexus device, that would be built by LG. The phone is rumored to carry the 1.5 GHz quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro with Adreno 320 taking care of the graphics department.

Next is RIM: London and Nevada photos leaked
Apparently, its getting difficult for companies to hide their devices from reaching prying eyes these days. After the iPhone 5, the Windows Phone 8 Lumia's, its time for RIM's phones.
The Canadian company's upcoming BlackBerry 10 devices, code named London and Nevada (above) made an appearance on Vimeo. CrackBerry guesses that the video was made for marketing agency pitches.Â
Nokia Lumia 920's Optical IS vs iPhone 5's Digital IS
Note: Scroll to end of the post if you want to directly see the comparison video.
A few weeks ago, Nokia made headlines when it launched its Windows 8 bearing flagship - the Lumia 920. The 920 brought in a good number of changes to the 900 it succeeded. However, one feature of the phone got famous (or infamous) - Optical Image Stabilization, and it rightly deserved the focus.
Though Image Stabilization has been touted by smartphone manufacturers before, it was almost always about software, where the operating system identifies the phone shake using sensors and compensates that with image processing techniques. Lumia 920 is the first phone to bring real image stabilization, a common feature in high end cameras, to smartphones.
