Not all Jedi were Generals (or Commanders).

Not all Jedi were stationed on Coruscant.

The scientists, the explorers, the diplomats…

… they might be millions of miles away from the nearest clone when Order 66 was initiated.

And they all heard, or saw, Obi-Wan’s warning.

Where were they, then?

Well, here’s the thing: The GFFA is huge.

There are thousands, even MILLIONS of places to hide and lose themselves in.

Someone once said, that the Jedi Order’s dogma of non-attachment, was ideal for laying low and living the life of a drifter.

So lay low they did. Following the final orders of the Jedi Council.

Avoid Coruscant. Avoid detection. Be secret… but be strong.

Final order inspired the naive question of a young Padawan.

Can it be used to send Jedi away?

So, these Jedi. They followed what Obi-Wan instructed them to do. Hide.

And they waited for the next order.

And waited.

And waited.

And waited…

“Await orders. What if orders never come? I won’t know what to do.”

“Maybe you will.”

“Maybe I won’t.”

“All right, maybe you won’t. But anything is possible. Perhaps the answer will come to you in another form.”

Maybe these Jedi, each and every one of them, found their respective answers.

And heeded the answer by not participating again in the affairs of the Galaxy.

“Hera, you’re never going to believe this!” Kanan called out, as he entered the Ghost. Hera frowned, and pushed the container of fuel on board.

“Won’t believe - what?” She trailed off, eyes going wide. Zeb, Sabine, and Ezra were standing together with very wide grins on their faces, and Hera immediately took a step back.

It wasn’t because of Zeb and Ezra and Sabine were actually getting along. No, it was because the entire place was impeccable. Impeccable. Hera narrowed her eyes.

“Am I going to open the door to your rooms and have junk fall out on me, am I?” She asked suspiciously.

Sabine gave Hera a look like, now why would you ask that.

“No, of course not,” she said, hooking her thumbs in her belt.

“Yeah,” Ezra added, “we actually put things back where they go.”

Hera was slowly looking more and more shocked.

“We managed to get Chopper to help us clean up the cockpit, like you’ve wanted,” Zeb spoke up, slapping a hand on Ezra’s head. “This punk managed to get all his dirty laundry off the floor, too.”

Hera’s shocked face, soon turned to a smile and she turned to face Kanan. He gave a shrug.

“And we decided to go out and help Ezra practice, and give you some peace,” Sabine added.

“Really? Any particular reason why?”

The three exchanged a look.

“You could use a break. You’ve been so busy lately,” Ezra said with a shrug.

Hera couldn’t help a proud smile. These kids had grown so much.

“You did good, kids. Thanks.”

“Sure thing, mom!” Ezra grinned as they waved and headed down the ramp. Ezra shot Zeb a glare as they left and shoved him in the side.

“Hey, My laundry wasn’t that bad!”

Sabine laughed

“Keep telling yourself that. You could smell it a mile away. There’s a reason Kanan wouldn’t go in there, you know.”

“Don’t drag me into this,” Kanan called after them, wrapped an arm around Hera’s waist. Once they we’re out of hearing range, he added, “I’m pretty sure they messed up some of your calibrations, though. I can fix them for you.”

Hera couldn’t help a smile and tugged Kanan down for a kiss.

“I’d rather fix them with you.”

Kanan laughed and pecked her on the cheek.

“I can work with that.”

“Did they really clean the entire ship?” Hera asked as they head farther inside the ship.

“I think they did,” Kanan said, looking a little terrified. “I’m kinda afraid to go in my room.”

Yavin had a lake. With Lothal not having a significant body of water, the crew was excited to be able to swim.

Hera patiently taught Ezra how to float and paddle. He had never learned to swim and Kanan insisted he learn.

Zeb spent his time diving beneath the waves and retrieving stones or bits of metal.

Sabine didn’t go in. She sat on the beach with a towel wrapped around her shoulders, idly running her fingers in the cold sand.

“Sabine! I got it!”

She smiles “Good job Ezra.”

Ezra swims up to Sabine. “Come in.”

“I’m good.”

“Come on.”

“I’m fine, really.”

Ezra playfully splashes some water at her, “ It’ll be fun.”

Sabine flinches away from the water as droplets land on her face. She doesn’t realize she’s hyperventilating, or her eyes watering.

She’s in that tiny room…with the Mirilian. An officer uses a bucket, dousing the alien. Water lands on Sabine too. Then the wires…the screaming…All while droplets of water run down her face like the tears she can’t cry.

“Bine? What’s wrong” Ezra pulls himself out of the water and runs to her, wrapping his arms around her as she quietly sobs. “ Im sorry. I’m so sorry Bine.”

She shakes her head. “I’m ok…I’m ok. Just…being stupid.”

“You ok?” Zeb asks. Hera and Kanan follow him.

Sabine stands. “I’m fine. Really.” _____________

Ezra sat on a ship Kallus was working on, detailing their day. “If your not busy next week you should come with. The lake is huge.”

Kallus focuses on his work, “Glad you guys enjoyed yourself.”

“Sabine didn’t…I got her upset by throwing water on her. It was just a joke.”

Kallus sets his tools down. “Bridger…Sabine was a cadet. Part of training as an officer is learning rudimentary…interrogation techniques.”

“They drown people?”

“Worse…If done properly it won’t kill anyone. But if you spray someone with water and have an a electrical source…its very effective.”

Ezra is surprised he’s surprised. Why wouldn’t the empire do that to people. They hurt them in every other way.

“So you learned it to?”

“Yes.”

Ezra slides down the side of the ship. “Can I ask you…girl advice?”

Kallus laughs dryly. “Wrong place, but I’ll try.”

“What do I say to her?”

Kallus thinks for a moment. “ That…the empire didn’t kill the Mirilian.”

“what?”

“I researched you all thoroughly as an Agent. I read her file.”

Ezra finds Sabine at the beach of all places. “Kanan said you came.”

“I want to go in…but I can’t.”

“Why?” He takes her hand, squeezing it. “It can’t hurt anyone.”

“I can still hear her screams…I was supposed to…I couldn’t.”

“The Mirilian is alive.”

Sabine looks at him. “How…”

“Kal…he told me everything. Sabine it’s not your fault.”

Sabine holds her arms out slightly and Ezra pulls her in, holding her. “Thanks Ezra.”

She lets him take her for a walk. Letting the water surround their ankles. Creating waves as they walked.

Sabine takes Ezra farther out, until she pulls him underneath with her. It’s a short kiss, for lack of air, but every bit as meaningful
