"Call in," chimed Sherlock, "Or I could come in to assist you tomorrow before my flight. I can’t stay the entire day, mind you, but a few hours might prove fruitful. As to Mister Jane’s escapades, I’m sure I could be of assistance." Sherlock moved his hand down to Erin’s hip and started massaging in small pressed circles, trying to relieve her of the day’s stress. 

She relaxed a little at his touch, pausing for a second to think about his offer. "You'd do that?! I could drive you to the airport too, if you like." She replied, trying not to laugh at the thought of Sherlock and Jane seeing each other again. The two of them hadn't exactly got on the first time they met, so she could imagine what it would be like if she did take him into work again with her.

basics {mun}

Erin slept peacefully for the first time in a long while, dreaming happily of being back home in Santa Clara with her family. She woke up slowly, enjoying the feeling of Sherlock’s lips on her neck enough for her to not want to open her eyes just yet. She hummed appreciatively when he kissed the sweet spot just below her ear and tilted her head back slightly. She felt like she could lie here in his arms like this with him forever, without the distractions of work and the world outside her window. 

Sherlock rested his hand on Erin’s hip, whispering a soft, “Good evening” into Erin’s ear. “It’s been far too long. I’ll have to track more criminals to Sacramento.” Not wanting to ruin the moment, Sherlock laid with Erin, kissing her neck and running his hand around her hip.  

"Mmm.." She just lay there for a little while, revelling in the moment of having him right there with her for the first time in two months. Even though they still texted each other a lot, it still couldn’t compare to this. Eventually, she opened her eyes and shifted a little to look up at him. "How long are you in town for?" 

Sherlock rolled onto his back, nestling his hands just behind his head, “My flight back leaves at 7:30 tomorrow evening. While I’ve been working on the Butler case, Watson has been working on a string of jewel heists on the east side. I’ll have to get back to assist.” He turned his head to face Erin, hoping she’d turn around so that he could see the moonlight in her eyes. 

She rolled over onto her other side to face him, propping herself up with her elbow. “..Oh.” She muttered, disappointed that they had a lot less time together than she’d hoped. 

"Oh," Sherlock repeated, "I travel across the the country, catch a murderer, raid your kitchen and collapse in your bed and all I get is oh?" Sherlock released his hand from beneath his head and moved Erin’s arm so that her head was cradled in his arm. After he’d allowed proper time for a light and feathery kiss, planted directly on Erin’s lips, he rolled onto his side and ran his fingers down from her shoulder, across her arm, and nestled his hand on her hip. 

"Sorry, it's just that I've had a long day.." She sighed, closed her eyes again and rubbed her temple. "We only just managed to close a case we had going for a few weeks without Jane's methods causing a fight." And he's been a complete bastard to me all day, she added mentally, feeling her earlier irritation start to come up again. "I don't even want to think about the amount of paperwork that's going to be on my desk when I get in tomorrow morning."
