There are plenty of reasons to be obsessed with Heated Rivalry, but the one I can’t get over is the JOY of finally seeing sex scenes taken seriously as interactions. As a way to convey thoughts, feelings, neuroses, fears and deep fondness between characters. It’s so rare & gorgeous to see on TV.

The way Shane always folds his clothes. The dropping of eyes and minute twitch at the corner of Connor Storrie’s mouth as Ilya notices but chooses not to make fun of him for it. The hypnotic state Shane gets in when he’s close enough to Ilya, the total mask-dropping when Ilya Ice Princess Rozanov is fucking Canada’s Golden Boy, probably-too-good-for-me Shane Hollander. These aren’t just smutty treats for a horny audience to bring in ratings, they’re ALL character moments.

The actors, the director, the whole team on the show just GETS it. Truly a masterpiece.

i've started reading tvl and no amount of posts telling me there's a "huge tonal shift" could have prepared me for this HUGE TONAL SHIFT this is the funniest fucking thing i've ever read it genuinely goes like:

I’m currently on a QAF rewatch, and I swear the “you fucked a murderer?!?!” scene has to be one of my favorites of the entire series. It’s just perfection from top to bottom. Michael being in near hysteria, Ben trying (unsuccessfully) to play Bad Cop while teetering on the same hysterical edge as Michael, Hunter being simultaneously a sarcastic smartass while also spouting out the most logic and reason in the entire room, all while Brian occasionally pipes in with completely unhelpful but still hilarious commentary from the sidelines. Just genius writing and top notch comedic acting from everyone.

OH ALSO, this being the first time Brian actually outright admits to Justin being his boyfriend in the middle of the chaos is just the cherry on top.

absolutely hilarious to me that agatha calls rio a bad boy when in reality rio is actually the rule following jock with infinite patience and care who brings you flowers on a first date.

agatha on the other hand is the snarky girl who gets into arguements with her teacher about the smallest details in the lecture and constantly getting detention for cursing someone out. she's top of all her classes tho.

I think Agatha and Rio’s story is told in between the lines because Agatha is not willing to delve deeper, she is not willing to look back into her past. Especially not that part of her past. Not when she relies on that anger to keep pushing her forward. Agatha Harkness always holds the cards, and I think her love story with Rio is one of the closest things she keeps to her heart. So we only really see the pain and anger. Because that’s all she wants to focus on.
