Aged Scenester

My November 2023 playlist is probably the shortest of my recent series of playlists. Someone got in my head recently, because I shared a playlist with them after they asked what I listen to -- always a risky question to answer -- and they said it wasn't thematic enough.

My playlists aren't especially thematic, because I don't listen to music that way all of the time. Also, nobody listens to my playlists consistently enough that i feel the need to curate my music for anybody. Hell, I like making playlists so I know what I was into at different times, but I don't often revisit them. But the trend I had towards making whole long playlists and throwing them on shuffle made it harder for me to remember what i liked, so I started segmenting my music again as an organization tool.

This is really the fault of streaming services and their shoddy UIs, because if they were better designed, you'd be able to find stuff more readily. (I'll spare you my rants on platform decay, though.)

Best Albums of 2023 - 66689 Blvd. - Kipp Stone

I have no idea how it's possible that this fantastic album hasn't gotten nearly enough love, but without a doubt it's a classic and people throw that around too much, but it really is. Mellow, lyrical and not soft, it's just a ridiculously listenable album from start to finish.

Reminds me of two 2016 records that I can't believe are already 7 years old -- Isaiah Rashad's "The Sun's Tirade" and Cousin Stizz's "Monda" though the former is a legit best album of that decade, Stizz's record punches above its weight.
