I keep buying shit

And it’s really bad. I don’t have the money to do this. Yeah everything has been on sale (a ModCloth dress for $16?!?!) and stuff I ran out of (Fenty foundation- which is a godsend I recommend to everyone out there)....but I don’t need to do this.

I think I’m searching for some sense of comfort from material things that I’m not going to find there. I spend stupid money on makeup and skincare products to feel better about my face, and clothes (though I really haven’t bought much this season) to feel better when I look in the mirror. The shrink in me says that means I have a lot of work to do in therapy if this where I turn...the rest of me says “uh yeah no shit.”

There have been other, more pressing things to deal with in therapy...like my brother in law’s suicide or my fiancé’s fucked up family or my school’s continued ability to suck out my will to live. You know, the little things.

Maybe 2018 will bring some time to work on me. Just please, I beg you, Universe, no more sadness and tragedy. My loved ones and I have had enough. Give us a break, please.
