FLOUR-LADEN.

    the sounds were always present when connie arrived.  supposed it was the hour or it always happened , it consistently concerned connie.  again , a dark brow furled before she turn her full attention to alfie.  she stared at the wooden walls , the divider of what could and what possibly could be.  ‘      doesn’t that always bother you and your customers , alfie ?      ‘  she asked with a finger pointed at the screen door just barely peeking out from behind a wall.

“i know the feeling ----” never on her terms , or on her tier , but he’s had many a nights where sleep-deprivation loomed over his foggy mind like a cloud. the question prompts him to glance to the screen door separating this building with its neighbor , another firm shake of the head. ask him years ago & this question would have rattled him. a hand wafts the air as if it’s a problem that can so easily be swept under the rug. “no ----- some interior construction ! usually loads quieter , believe me.”

he smiles , claps his hands together. “well , my dear connie , if you want some desserts for harrison and food for your pantry , i can definitely supply you. maybe offer you some warm milk  to drink when you get home. 

    ‘      BROTHER ? what do you mean ? i know no siblings !      ‘
