also like no shit sam wanted to be a lawyer. I think there’s a genuine belief in him that if he can present his case to somebody and reveal the truth of the matter, justice will be done. like that’s a big reason WHY he gets into so many fights with john. john’s behaviour is irrational and unpredictable, and sam takes that as an epistemological injustice. like his dad is WRONG, and therefore the punishment he doles out is wrong. so sam thinks maybe if I can PROVE he’s wrong then the punishment will stop. when like in reality the truth is an irrelevant factor here. people aren’t abusive because they’re factually incorrect and just need to be told the truth of whatever circumstance they’re responding to. but I think sam has a very idealistic streak in him about the truth having this higher power over people, that sunlight is always the best disinfectant, and even after living with his father for years he still wasn’t fully disabused of that notion

For all its faults supernatural has Castiel. None of these prestige tv shows have Castiel. None of these books have Castiel. No matter what media I consume i keep coming back to supernatural because it has Castiel.
