âĽď¸Summary: You hear those sweet words for the first time.
đ: Ficlet/Reader Insert
đTag(s): None! It was anonymous. But I think @tomoka0013 would like thisâŚ
Double content upload because I may be somewhat busy this weekend and wanted to have something done. This is my first time writing an actual story for Bi-han so I hope itâs good. I suppose this is a combination of game and movie Sub-Zero? Either way, thanks for the request anonymous and Iâm glad you like my writing so much! Iâm also tagging this for many mentions of blood and sort of threats of death.
It was simply a morning like many other mornings. You woke up cold and alone, though the sun had been peeking through your curtains for hours. The feeling of drowsiness was overwhelming and you had to force yourself to rise up from your bed before sleep overtook you again.
âWhat in theâŚâ You muttered when you looked around your room, seeing the dried bloody boot prints that had stained your floor. You would have almost thought you were alone the entire night with how untouched everything else seemed to be.
Something, or someone decided to pay you a little visit while you slept.
Oh, right. He mustâve let himself in last night. Somehow without waking you up. Again.
It was an odd relationship you two had. Having to explain it to your loved ones was always difficult. To be honest, you werenât quite sure what it was and you didnât think he knew either. How could you even begin to describe how you felt to someone else when you yourself had no idea?
There would be weeks when you would never see each other, as if your time together werenât an important part of your lives. Then one day, out of the blue, there would be a chill in the air that was unlike any other. And when you slept you would feel strong cold arms wrap around your body and the faint smell of blood would invade your senses. Apparently you had become so accustomed to it at this point that it barely jolted you awake anymore.
Surely that wasnât normal, but then again, whatever this relationship was wasnât either.
As you trudged to your kitchen to prepare a quick meal for yourself, you began to feel strangely conflicted on the matter. What were you to him? What was he exactly? Who was he even? There were only so many things Bi-han would tell you when you asked. It frustrated you to no end. Still, you trusted him. Enough to not push him away, enough to let him practically break into your house and stay with you. Even enough to let it happen over and over again.
There was something brewing between the two of you, though you had no idea what it was yet. His nightly visits were becoming more frequent and you swore he was staying just that much longer. You had to get to the bottom of this one way or another.
Fortunately, with the way these visits had been going lately, you had a feeling you would get to see him again that night.
Your intuition was as spot on as ever.
âThere you are. I knew you would show up again tonight.â You were more relieved than upset. Waiting until nightfall was harder than expected this time and every tick on the clock only made you more impatient.
It was dark outside, the monthly moonless night upon you. The only thing lighting up the room was a single lamp you had turned on at dusk.
Bi-han smirked from his side of the room, âAm I becoming too predictable for you?â
He sat across from you, only part of his face being illuminated by the underperforming light. There it was again. That familiar faint smell of blood and the freezing temperature that always seemed to follow no matter where it went. Was it wrong to say you had grown fond of the chilled air that he possessed? Or at least, grown too used to it to mind like you used to?
âWell, I do like your company, so I canât complain. Though, I would appreciate less bloodstains on my carpet.â You answered, only being half sarcastic. âIâve had to spend entire mornings cleaning them only for it to be messed up again.â
It used to be worse. He used to fall into bed with bloody clothes covered in who knows what, those nights. You had to wake up even earlier one morning to tell him to at least change before getting in bed. Since then, itâs only been the carpet that gets ruined every so often.
âI might start to get the wrong idea about what it is you do when youâre away.â You added.
Who were you kidding? You already knew. Or at least, had a very informed guess. Only so many professions have their employees come back bloody and bruised that often.
Bi-han chuckled at your comment though he only seemed so amused, âAnd what is it you think I do?â
You werenât sure if he wanted your serious answer or only to be humored. You could never tell, even by studying his face. Whatever he did, wherever he was from, they taught him how to hide his true intentions perfectly. You could never tell what was on his mind. That should have frightened you and driven you off in the opposite direction.
Here he was though, sitting across from you as if he didnât just ask you such a threatening question.
You paused, trying desperately to read the room.
âYouâre out fighting⌠something, right? I donât know who, I donât know what, but I know people arenât normally gone for so long only to come back with so much blood on them on a regular basis.â
It was probably better to pretend you only had guessed so much. Though, you had a feeling if he didnât want you to know, then he wouldnât have brought home such a large amount of a new personâs blood so frequently. A part of him mustâve wanted you to figure it out, you just didnât know how much of him that was.
He didnât respond immediately, only raising an eyebrow before shifting in your chair. âIf you have the intelligence to figure that out, then you must also realize that would mean I have an obligation to end your life.â
That, hadnât quite crossed your mind actually. It didnât surprise you that he probably knew how to kill so effectively. He didnât seem like the type to be covered in his own blood like that. Bi-han would never kill you though, right? Surely he couldnât just, take your life and leave like you meant nothing to him.
âYou wouldnât do that.â You had to force yourself to laugh to keep your anxiety at bay. âNot after everythingââ
âYou donât think I will?â He asked, leaving your chair to ask you directly. He stood so close to you, you could practically feel his breath hit your face.
âBelieve me (Y/N), I am capable of more things than you know.â
No. He canât. He couldnât. He wouldnât...
âThen why would you keep coming back?â You asked him, unable to stop your voice from shaking. âIâm easy to kill. I canât fight. No one would know you were here, I cleaned the bloodstains. Iâm sure you know how to clean up after yourself. Iâm an easy target.â
You had always imagined how intimidating he mustâve been to his victims, but seeing him this close made you realize your imagination was lacking. You felt your heart moments away from leaping out of your chest. He had the power to kill you if he so pleased. You could be left dead before you could even blink.
Only, you somehow you wouldnât.
Bi-han grew silent again. This time you knew exactly the reason why. There was a reason you were yet living, despite being so sure of what he did. There was a reason why he even bothered to come see you so often. You knew not everyone was lucky enough to be able to caress his gentle resting face and be there for his sleepless nights.
You knew the reason why. You had known the reason why for so long at this point. He just needed to say it. No matter how hard it may be. You had to hear it.
You couldnât be the only one who felt the way you did.
âBecause I love you.â Bi-han finally said, finally confirming what you had suspected all along.
It felt as though a weight had been finally lifted off your chest. He had never said that before. You didnât even know he had it in him. You had always guessed it, but actually hearing him say those simple words melted your heart and made you collapse into his arms.
He held you and kept you from falling over, although he was stiff and clearly not used to such affection. You didnât care. It was a start.
âI love you too.â You were able to mutter before your voice grew even smaller, âDonât leave just yet. Please. Just stay a little longer.â
It didnât matter who he was when he was away or where he went those mornings when you woke up alone. It didnât matter what he did in the days you didnât see him. He meant what he said. He loved you. And if that was enough to get him to stay just a little longer, then that would be enough for you.
