The bird is a yellow beaked cuckoo, which if you don’t know, are brood parasites. Put simply, they lay their eggs in other bird’s nests that way the other bird will raise their eggs. This can result in the cuckoo hogging the food, pushing the other eggs out of the nest, or even eating the other chicks.

I chose the yellow beaked cuckoo because of a part in Ash’s story in which her father and her are talking. They see one and he explains the phenomenon to Ash, explaining it like a betrayal of one’s people (given that they are all birds despite being different species). In turn, when him and her mother abandon her in order to move to Piltover, she gets it tattooed as both a reminder of the fond memory and the symbolism of betrayal.
