hot take: moms need to learn how to listen to and comfort their daughters without making everything about their own traumas
a classic example
daughter: hey this thing you do bothers me very much and i wish you wouldn’t do it
mom: well my parents abused me and im not even as bad as they were and i had to sit through it so you gotta sit through whatever i do to you too
i didn’t realize this was a common thing. i find it relieving that i’m not the only one.
Men: Don’t look like a trash can Women: “Look pretty enough to show you’re a woman” because the only thing that matters to be a woman is to be beautiful, also “covered enough to look like a lady” because showing your shoulder will make every man in the audience simaltaneously ejaculate and it will be a big mess. Also if someone stares at your tits and not your face, it’s your fault and you should be ashamed of yourself and your disgusting, lustful body.
Jesus Christ on a Double Standard Bicycle.
So if anybody wondered why the young ladies on tumblr who are still having to put up with this shit complain about it at the top of their lungs…yeah. Yeah, this would be why,
those little things on ur nose aren’t blackheads, don’t try and get rid of them they’re sebaceous filaments and they’re permanent and literally everyone has them
every girl has that little pouch of fat on her lower tummy, despite what magazines try n show u, you have important organs there that need to be protected don’t try and get rid of ur pouch
ur body is smarter than u think and it knows what to do when u eat more than normal. one bad day, or even week, of eating poorly isn’t gonna ruin anything at all I pinky promise
if u think u look good up until u try taking a selfie, it’s not ur fault - our faces are asymmetrical and when u see ur face flipped it will look unnatural to u, since u don’t see it that way when u look in the mirror. to everyone else it looks perfectly fine
no one’s stomach looks the same at 8pm as it does at 8am. no one has a chiseled six pack after a day of eating, not even the super fit people u see on tumblr, because ur stomach naturally expands after eating and expecting to have a flat tummy before bed is very unrealistic
no one notices if the bags under ur eyes are bad today. no one pays attention to the bump in ur nose or the zit on ur chin or the piece of hair that u missed when u were straightening. literally no one notices these things except you so stop worrying about it ur gonna be fine
sometimes u just gotta get over urself
this made me cry I needed it so bad

my top 10 backpack essentials:
water bottle this should be a staple i swear. being hydrated is important! go give yourself some love and get some H2O! if you’re from a pretty humid area like me and love cold water, it’s really helpful if you use a vacuum flask and fill it with some cold water since the temp. stays a lot longer!
extra money (loose change, some bucks) this will definitely be a lifesaver! i had so many moments when i would be short a buck or two and i would rummage around my bag and find the exact amount i needed, and whenever i would take all the change inside my bag i would get surprised on how much money there is, sometimes it could even buy me a full meal! i’m not kidding
at least one notebook you never know when you’ll need it ++ good storage for receipts, money, or some doodles you did on tissue paper while taking a break from studying or for just when you’re bored (<– very me). i usually bring my drawing notebook everywhere before, but i realized that it was too big and didn’t fit most of my bags and i would always be holding it when i commute which was very inconvenient. so recently, i’ve been bringing my bujo around which has pages that i can peel of cleanly, so i would just stick them on my drawing notebook after!
pens or pencils at least 2, if i bring pencils i make sure that it has a eraser already so i don’t have to carry one! personally, i like bringing pencils more since i find that writing with a pencil is more comfortable than using a pen but that’s just my preference haha you do you!
lip and cheek tint i use the face shop watery tint since it’s real easy to just swipe and dab for some color to your face plus it stays pretty long and you just need to reapply it once at most :)
hair ties i always lose them no matter what so i always make sure i have extra in my bag, along with some bobby pins
sanitary pads i have irregular periods so i never really get the time right ++ i can help a friend who in an sudden predicament! i prefer pads than tampons more since i feel more protected in a way? but i think that’s just me lol
alcohol/hand sanitizer gotta stay clean! i have mild mysophobia so i really need to use this before and after every meal i have outside and during commute. if i don’t i’ll feel really icky and i get kinda anxious about it :c
small medicine kit some paracetamol, decongestants and lozenges are always in my bag in a small pouch which is really helpful when i suddenly feel queasy at a random time of the day. i recommend everyone to have this in their bags since it’ll really really really be useful whether it’s for you or for the people you’re with.
a hanky! i commute a lot and where i live air pollution is no joke. i use a hanky to cover my face when i walk the streets to keep myself from inhaling the smoke. i don’t really have masks so i just opt for hankies instead, or like any napkins from the prev restaurant or cafe i went to haha
bonus: earphones! to waste yourself some time while on the commute or to not look awkward alone while waiting for your friends (maybe that’s just me hahah)
* * * most of my essentials can fit into a small pouch since most of them are for sanitary purpose so i just do that so i can save some extra space in my bag
* * * my phone and my wallet are usually in my pocket since i really get anxious when i don’t feel them there or i can’t get them easily hahaha

Real talk tips for studying
1. Get up early.
I know, it’s easier said than done. But it is going to be hard for the first 15-20 minutes, maybe even the first hour, but make yourself some coffee, and get the fuck out of that bed.
2. Do 3 useful things right after you get up.
This doesn’t have to be ‘cram one lesson’ or ‘take 500 pages of notes’. No. Brush your teeth, make yourself something nice to drink, comb your hair. Wash your face. Literally whatever you find useful, do it. It may take 10 minutes, but you will feel instantly better when you see you’ve done something.
3. Organize your study space.
I don’t mean organize all your highlighters by color. I mean arrange everything so it is within your reach. That means when you sit down to finally study, there won’t be any need for you to get up and get something.
4. Take breaks.
It’s easy to start scrolling through instagram, or facebook when you sit by a 200 page book. Trust me on this. But set an alarm when you plan on taking a break. Make the break your instagram time, or facebook time, or just chill time. Whatever you do, organize your time so you don’t leave anything out.
5. Divide your shit.
So you have a 300 page chapter to read. Or a 30 page paper to write. Divide it into smaller parts. For example, I will read through the first 30 pages and then take a break. Repeat. Or, I will write 3 pages and then relax. Repeat. Literally whatever shit you have, divide it into smaller chunks and then just tackle the chunks.
6. Don’t listen to music with lyrics.
There are a ton of ‘study music’ or ‘motivational music’ playlists on Youtube. Blast that. That way, you won’t find yourself mouthing the perfect lyrics to Shape of you, and not knowing shit about what you’ve been reading. I’ve been there one too many times and it’s just wasting time.
7. Don’t feel bad about not responding to texts, or not hanging out with friends.
There is time to study and time to play. No between. By all means you should go out and have fun. But your work time can only be your work time. That text can wait, that coffee date can wait. During the break you will have more than enough time to catch up. And your friends should understand that, after all, this is important to you so it should be for them too.
8. Drink water! ! !
This is the most used tip, but trust me, you get tired much quicker if you’re not hydrated. Get a nice ass bottle of water and fill that shit up. Everytime you finish a paragraph take a sip. (At least!)
9. Don’t worry too much.
I’ve lost countless hours by panicking and trying to reason with myself why I should just quit. And let me tell you, it’s very easy to get stuck in that vicious circle. But when you begin to worry, take a deep breath, drink some water and just do. Read that sentence. Write the opening line to your paper. Underline that unknown word. Just do. It will not go in vain. No effort is ever useless.
10. Relax.
You are not the first one to have trouble with this. You are not the only one struggling with this material. But you can do it. It is possible. In 10 years you won’t remember that godawful task or chapter. But you will remember taking shit into your hands. And that feeling when you accomplish your goal is going to be worth all the while.
That’s about it, worked for me. Just be real with yourself. Good luck and may the odds be ever in you favor!
Memorizing?
Read it 10 times
Say it 10 times
Write it 2 times
I always use this method and it works best for me

A School Included This Teen’s Service Dog In The Yearbook And It’s The Purest Thing
THE WHOLE STORY GUYS
The dog looks so nervous in the school picture
Don’t judge him, you were probably nervous for your first yearbook photo too.
