A headcanon of mine about the Angels Encarmine is that the reason they paint their death company white is so that by spilling enough blood in combat they can paint it red again. "Encarmine" translates to "to make red" so perhaps one could read "angels encarmine" as "the angels who make themselves red" referring to the death company.
Let's take the theory a step further. What if there's a superstition among the chapter that, if a death company marine can stain their armor completely red in battle (restoring it to the color of their old armor), they can escape The Black Rage? One of the few things we know about the Angels Encarmine is that their death company is always unusually large. This is because they break the rules and keep their death company marines alive after battle, hoping that in just a couple more fights their brothers may rejoin them.

I'm still painting 40k btw, but I told myself I wouldn't buy any more eldar until the ones I have are all painted. It's just windriders from the old combat patrol left. I hate them.
