Another Five More Short Graybles
Cuber tells more stories of the "old days": Finn and Jake try to entertain Jake Jr., Princess Bubblegum tries to help Cinnamon Bun conquer his fear of the dark, Ice King and his penguins decide on which one of their movies to watch, the Earl of Lemongrab and his brother Lemongrab 2 argue over their toy lemon doll, and Mr. Fox's sub-conscious self draws a treasure map.
Jake Jr. seems to have a different hairstyle in this episode.
The newspaper which is briefly shown in the end of the episode reads "JAKE JR. REAL COOL KID! Daddy's Angel witnesses report. By Jake "The Dad" The Dog" Another title reads that "Authorities are still searching for the cause of a 3-alarm fire in today, in...."
There are two different night-lights in the shape of Jake that appear in this episode: one is shaped just like Jake's smiling face, and another shows him lying on his side, posing.
Cinnamon Bun may be good at unicycling, as he has some kind of unicycling trophy in his room.
One of Lemon-Sweet's caps is a miniature version of Finn's hat.
Lemongrab 2 is supposedly swallowed whole and alive by his brother in this episode.
Cinnamon Bun appears to 30 in this episode; Princess Bubblegum tells him that he's basically that age when trying to convince him that he didn't need a nightlight.
The penguins in the Ice Kingdom have the right to vote on some matters when the Ice King gives them those rights.
The last line of each grayble is the same dialogue as the first line of the next grayble. For example:
The last line of the first grayble and the first line of the second grayble is "I'm/You're not a little kid anymore."
The last line of the second grayble and the first line of the third grayble is "Yearrgh!"
The last line of the third grayble and the first line of the fourth grayble is "Too dark."
The last line of the fourth grayble and the first line of the fifth grayble is "My end."
The last line of the fifth grayble and the first line of the continuation of the first grayble is "What a jerk."
This is the first time Finn is referred as "uncle" in the series, though he wore a shirt in "Jake the Dad" that had the words "Best Unkle" written on it upside down.
Mr. Fox speaks with the same accent as the actor Christopher Walken.
During Ice King's grayble, there is a video game console very similar to a Sega Genesis/Megadrive next to his television.
Blimby is likely a parody of Barney, the purple dinosaur.
Cinnamon Bun has what seems to be a poster of Benjamin Franklin on the wall of his room.
There is a sign on Cinnamon Bun's door that says No Parents and a duck on the bottom that could be a reference to Donald Duck.
Jake's saying that his pups grow very fast in the same episode is proven true when Jake Jr. mentions in this episode that she is already thirty.
This is the second episode where a subconscious form of a person appears. The first one was Jake's subconscious in "The Witch's Garden ."
Ice King's indifference to the Candy Kingdom burning may be because of the events that had transpired in "The Party's Over, Isla de Senorita". He also may have just not noticed before he pulled down his blinds.
Ice King clears the entire top shelf of his refrigerator, but in the next frame there are jars on the top shelf.
Lemongrab 2's teeth have many times been seen to be sharp, but when they were fighting, they became blunt.
The pinhead on the top of the lamp in Lemon-Sweet's box disappears and reappears continuously.
This episode was originally titled, "Another Five Short Graybles."
The theme of this set of graybles was the five stages of grief. The first grayble is acceptance, the second is denial, the third is bargaining, the fourth is anger, and the fifth is depression.
Finn accepts a delivery from Jake, Cinnamon Bun denies sleeping without a nightlight, Ice King bargains the penguins to watch a movie, Lemongrab gets angry because the little doll's head broke, and Mr. Fox said look at that depression.
Each stage is verbally referenced except for anger. Finn said "acceptance" when signing for the package, Cinnamon Bun said he could not handle this "denial" of light, Ice King said he still had one trick up his sleeve "bargaining", and Mr. Fox said see that "depression".
According to Cartoon Network, the theme also might be involving child care. In the first one, Jake Jr. is Jake's daughter, the second one, Princess Bubblegum is Cinnamon Bun's caretaker, the third one, the penguins are the Ice King's (somewhat) loyal companions, the fourth one, the Lemongrabs try to take care of Lemon-Sweets, and in the final one, the fox is taking care of the ugly bugs.
