The general rule when photographing fish is to try and avoid the "butt shot". However, there are a select few species of fish that actually look pretty good from behind. When you see a whale shark for the first time it takes your breath away. This was not my first but it was still a magnificent surprise. These huge and fantastic beasts are completely harmless to humans and feed on small bait fish and plankton which they suck into their huge mouths. I can't claim credit for this picture as that is me in the background 😁 but thanks to the kind anonymous soul who preserved this incredible memory for me. Take a look at this beautiful coral sea fan on the bow of the Japanese WWII wreck resting at 45m off the coast of Lombok. Wrecks aren't just hunks of rusty metal.
