A Good Thing To Know!
https://www.tribecafilm.com/stories/the-truth-according-to-darren-wilson-a-narrative-ferguson-mike-brown
This narrative scene was inspired by Darren Wilson's first and only television interview. This film is the premiere of Tribeca's new series
Did he just?…
unstanned
HE DID WHAT?!
Is there no room foe nuance in cinema? He’s trying to explore the kind of fear white cops feel when they shoot unarmed black men. Understanding the problem is a good way to go about this.
@anchirotleep DO YOU HEAR YOURSELF? People already know the problem. You’re so close to try to justify the murder of black KIDS and I’m livid.
@Ezra Miller stans, just say you don’t care about black people and you want to stan a pretty white person without any guilt and go.
I keep seeing people saying disagreeing with Miller is Antisemitism…acting like Black Jewish people aren’t impacted by this whole thing. Lol
My question is who exactly is this film targeted at because Black people could care less of the side/opinions of white supremacists??? Also, don’t come at me with the whole “A Black activist backed this!”. Any Black activist who puts white adult’s opinions and feelings on a platform over black children, can burn and rot.
Why are all of you acting like white fear is brand new and needs analyzing or explaining?? Like @onyourleftbooob said, we know the problem already.
lmao nonblack jews have been calling black jews antisemitic for speaking up about this because they’re racist af and only MAYBE even see us as conditionally jewish until we step out of line in their eyes and then suddenly our jewishness is revoked
the number of people ive seen acting like being queer and jewish is a get out of racism free card is nauseating
this gross racist person literally explicitly said that the purpose of this film was to humanize wilson and their entire explanation of the film centered on how we shouldn’t be angry at the fucking murderer because society is the problem, as if we can’t talk about white supremacy and individual culpability at the same time. if you look at miller’s own words this film was an attempt to construct a narrative of white innocence and black people are wrong to be angry at individuals because racism is systemic.
LIKE we don’t need some awful faux-deep film to understand that white people are socialized to be racist and fear us! we fucking know! it’s not a magical pass on individual acts of white violence and it’s not new, deep, or original to excuse white people from individual responsibility for white supremacy.

Janelle Monáe Declares Herself A “Queer Black Woman In America” In Powerful Rolling Stone Interview
In the past, the artist had only alluded to her queer identity. “I only date androids” became her well-known response to any prying on the matter. In this candid interview, she made it clear that not only is she done hiding that part of herself, she plans on continuing to put themes of sexual fluidity and empowerment into her work so that others within the LGBT community can feel seen and heard. “Being a queer black woman in America — someone who has been in relationships with both men and women — I consider myself to be a free-ass motherfucker,” she said in the interview.

En Guanajuato- Diputada (del PRI) a indígenas: no los imagino detrás de un escritorio, sigan vendiendo nopales y artesanías
La sociedad mexicana glorifica a las indígenas del pasado, pero desprecia las del presente
Mexican congresswoman tells indigenous community asking for jobs, that she only sees them belonging en el campo and selling artesanías and nopales
Mexican society glorifies the indigenous of the past, but disregards the indigenous of the present
English transcript of video:
Community member: “we need employment, why are you here presently in Leon, there are no jobs in our communities”
Another community member: “We suffer many things but the most important would be lack of jobs because we have places to live, we just don’t have jobs”
Congresswoman: “you all spoke of jobs, when you ask for jobs, I think it is necessary to talk about what our abilities are..”
“I don’t imagine, and I say this to you with respect, maybe I’m saying something wrong, but I say it with a lot of respect, I don’t imagine an indigenous woman, dressed like she dresses, with that….”
“we imitate you, we imitate your way of dressing, which isn’t the same because the dignity with which you dress, the dignity with which you carry that reboso(shawl), with what you bring in those shoes,
is part of what we immitate, and we immitate because it is a dignified way of dressing-
-I don’t imagine you all in a factory, I don’t imagine you all “cleaning” in a building, I don’t imagine you behind a desk
I imagine you en el campo (in the fields), I see you in your houses making artisan crafts, I think of you, and I visualize you making the work of your indigenous communities
I can’t imagine you leaving your lands, your houses, and then losing that-
losing that tradition, when I hear the Chichimecas and the Pames in the markets of San Luis de la Paz, selling nopales (cactus), which is dignified, which is something we need, selling the products of the earth,
I don’t know who would do it if not you-
it isn’t undignified, it is something that we need, it is part of our culture and way of life,
some of us make money behind a desk, others by working the fields, others by cutting los nopalitos, I know-
I know the labor is hard, I understand like you say it is, because we also come from there
However, let’s analyze and think of that future, as indigenous nations, as indigenous peoples, you all could not be substituted by anyone-
don’t look for space when you have one already”
Ranting:
It has always bothered me when Mexican-Americans or people who identify as Chicana/o in the U.S use the term “Aztec” very loosely. I grew up in South Central (53rd and Central was my street), and I saw so many cholos talking about Aztec pride this and that, some with tattoos of the calendar etc.
1. Not everyone from Mexico is of Aztec decent.
2.People always say “well it was the most popular/important civilization” blah blah, NOT TRUE.
3. Many people think the Aztecs invented Nahuatl…again, NOT TRUE.
Every single “Chicano” organization always has Aztec dances and similar events, NOT EVERYONE FROM MEXICO IS OF AZTEC DESCENT!!
mmmm yeahhhh
Don’t be mistaken...
…When the Spanish arrived to the continent (especifically to what is known today as Veracruz) and met the mesoamerican cultures they had a wide arrange of knowledge and structured civilization in sharp contrast with the “savages” they expected to find
Among the many, many accomplishments are:
A full written system based on hyeroglyphs (I.e. the Dresden Codex)
Irrigations systems based on channels collecting rain water and aqueducts, and hidraulic systems to avoid floods
Agriculture, particularly the Chinapas (the so-called “floating gardens”)
Arquitecture, not just the pyramids and religious art, but had a complex layout to their major cities (plazas, playgrounds, merchant districts etc.)
Mathematics and Number system based on 20 numbers who already had their equivalent to the zero number.
Astronomy and as such a full understanding of space and time (i.e. The Calendars, they understood the cardinal points)
Medicine (They already extracted the active principle of aspirin)
Philosophy and a dualism-based thought system
Education available for ALL the social strata, even the women (women could reign too btw)
Indentured Servitude (Yes they had slaves, like almost all ancient cultures had, but it was NOT hereditary, they could buy their freedom and have possesions of their own, couldn’t be sold without their consent)
I could honestly be here all day, but those are the most significant ones, also these do NOT refer solely to the aztecs, they were developed by ALL the cultures that thrived on the Mesoamerican lands.
EDIT:
If you’re checking this post because of the commentaries please refer to my answers to both users on this post, I will not be answering anything else about this topic

Maya Dentistry
It was mostly noblemen of the elite ruling class who got this done to them. There are the rare cases of the noblewoman found with this in her teeth and a young woman who was not of high class found with that, too. The young woman, though, may have been a noble who’s body got thrown into a poor person’s grave in the confusion following the fall of the Maya empire.
Native Land
I like my Chicanos but Mexican Americans have got to stop with the whole “the Southwest is Mexican land”, yes Mexico owned it before the US but it was ALWAYS Native land before Mexico & the US even existed. My peoples, the Tarahumaras, Otomis, Purepechas, Chichimecas, etc ancestral territory was never in the Southwest. It always belonged to the Hopi, O'odham, Pueblo nations and the surrounding people. You have to respect that.
