I put a lot of thought into this on my coffee binge so I’m submitting it to you as a surprise.

So ima go house by house starting with the obvious

Gryffindor:

John would be a Gryffindor! Very obviously much so he’s got balls of steal a ridiculous amount of bravery and willing to fight and die for his country(and depression)

Alexander would also be a Gryffindor! And I was a little torn because part of me wanted to put him into Slytherin purely because he’s so goddamn ambitious but I think his bravery, like Laurens, would trump over that. His sense of right and wrong is very on point even if his moral loyalty is a little flexible. Plus I feel like if the sorting hat gave him a choice he’d pick Gryffindor to be with John, but also because I imagine him to be a little prejudice against Slytherin elitism. Which might be blasphemy since he’s against slavery but also this doesn’t exclude prejudice in the “all Slytherins are evil” mindset. But I’ll save that for later.

Ravenclaw:

The obvious one first- Angelica is a ravenclaw. She’s witty, smart, intelligent. Her entire part in Schuyler sisters is looking for a mind at work.

Lafayette! Hear me out, because I’m kind of mixing their historical personalities and play personas. Laf is definitely a ravenclaw. He’s a General in the war and he’s damn good at his job. He’s close to washington and has won him so many fights. His tactical and practical brilliance (see what I did there) is a quality you’d see in a ravenclaw.

Washington! Now I know what you’re thinking. This ones even weirder, but I stand firm in this because he lead an entire war and then country afterwards. And he did so knowing he needed to surround himself with people as smart if not smarter than him. That’s a ravenclaw thought process.

Hufflepuff

Eliza! Eliza is a hufflepuff she’s loyal to Alexander no matter his fuck ups she’s helpful trusting and kind and sweet and deserves far better than what she got.

Peggy! Peggy is also a hufflepuff. I have a feeling most Schuyler’s would be hufflepuffs. Peggy confiding in Alexander shows she also has a very trusting relationship and seems secluded so trust to her would be important.

James Maddison is a hufflepuff. He helped right the bill of rights and he’s all for equal treatment and fairness. He’s loyal to Jefferson and always at his side. They are the slytherpuff combo. To a tee. He’s the one that suggests Thomas get Hamilton on his side for the election. Which shows he’s got a good moral sense and understanding. Even if they didn’t get along it shows he respects Alexander enough to know they might need his endorsement.

Maria Reynolds is the perfect example to a toxic slytherpuff relationship. She’s loyal to a husband who uses and abuses her. And she’s definitely a hufflepuff even if it’s a little twisted. Your house doesn’t guarantee your moral alignment and Maria would be a good example of this.

Slytherin!

My personal house and this may be a little wonky but bare with me!

Thomas obviously. He’s a Slytherin. He’s prideful and cunning. An asshole. He’s got all the makings to be a Slytherin. But that doesn’t mean he’s without feelings. His best friend is a hufflepuff and hufflepuffs are very good judges of character. But his relationship with Hamilton would be why I say Hamilton is prejudice against Slytherins. They’d still be enemies and houses would play a huge part in that.

Burr! Burr is also a Slytherin, his ambition is even greater than Alexander’s in a sense where burr would be willing to step on people to get what he wants. He switched parties to win a senate state. Helped uncover the affair with the Reynolds in the play. He’s a Slytherin but that doesn’t mean he’s a bad dude. He values Theodosia and knowing his place with her. It’s even more Slytherin of him to be fucking sleeping with a married woman. And he loves his daughter fiercely. And as anyone who has read cursed child and witnessed with Malfoy. Sometimes those Slytherins turn out to be the best unexpected parents.

Here is the wonky one. Hercules is a Slytherin. So he’s got a lot of ambition to. His whole thing is he wants so socially advance. He wants to be more. And the reason I put him in Slytherin instead of Gryffindor (because I thought about this a lot-) is because historically how he delivered the information on the British that he spied on was through his slaves. He was willing to use another person to help his cause and that’s a very Slytherin thing to do. But Mulligan is the perfect ‘Slytherin are not evil’ mentality. He’s fighting in the rebellion he wants freedom his goals align with Hamilton’s and John Laurens, but he’s just willing to use whatever method he can to get it. So I put him in Slytherin.

James would be the perfect example of an awful Slytherin who makes it hard to fight stereotypes because he is everything everyone hates about Slytherin. He’s cruel, manipulative, awful, and generally garbage-y con man. He gives Slytherins their bad rap.

I think I got everyone. I dunno.
