the more I watch the kiss in The Unicorn and the Wasp, the more I think that Ten wasn't really that shocked by Donna kissing him because a) he asked for a shock, he knew Donna was going to deliver, so that kind of defeats the purpose of being surprised, doesn't it? b) Donna gave him a heads up, and c) that man puckered his lips inches before it landed on Donna's.

I love to think of it as him having such intense feelings of platonic yearning and affection and devotion and desire for her (that's his bestie forever, thank you) that he's been able to comfortably think "oh yeah surely the way I feel terribly jealous of the idea of her being with another man is because I just don't want to lose her" (true) but then he shocks himself with how 100000000% into the kiss he is that he can't not realize that he's got romantic feelings for her too.... lol

yes, exactly! and a little headcanon of mine is despite him always being in her face, and even if there might be a spark of feelings from him pre-kiss, he suppresses (or denies) it because Donna vehemently stated that there won't be any "nonsense" between them 😭 (i'm so sorry. i thought you were asking me about what they should do after their first kiss).
