Still waiting on action shots from Worlds so I decided to make my own at the fountains in front of the National Art Centre in Barcelona
I got my senior pictures taken in my dance dress, because what else would I wear?

This yearâs Worlds saw only 5 champs from 2013 retain their title. In the girls comps only Shannon Bradley retained her title while in the boysâ comps, Ronan Kelly, Jack Quinn, SeĂĄn Downes and David Geaney all became World Champs again. hey! I know you dance for another organization (WIDA? am i right ? sorry I'm just not positive!!) and I just wanted to apologize on behalf of the girl who made the post about fake dancers. I dance for CLRG and I don't personally know her but I think what she said is really offensive and I remembered you. I think we should all just share our love of dance together and not be prejudiced towards one another! It all comes down to dance after all!
yep, i dance for WIDA and thanks for sending me this :)
i canât really say that iâm offended since i can kind of understand her standpoint, i mean, given that CLRGâs the biggest and oldest organization around, it would make sense that it becomes the basis of comparison for a lot of people and it sets the standard for both dance style and competition calibre
what bothers me most is the way she seemed to be implying that the organization you dance for defines your âlegitimacyâ as an irish dancer, regardless of how much passion and love you may have for dance, even though there are many factors that could lead to a dancerâs decision to enroll in a non-CLRG school (limitations due to location/region, personal preference, costs, etc.)
we may have different standards and styles, but in the end, shouldnât we be happy that all these organizations are allowing irish dance to spread all across the globe, even to countries where people donât expect to find such an amazing art form (which also doubles as a sport)? itâs giving so many people the opportunity to experience something this unique and, personally, i feel really blessed
TL;DR:Â your organization doesnât define your validity or worth as a dancer. as long as you enjoy it and are genuinely willing to do your part in working hard to reach whatever goals you have, thatâs all that matters
(also, not sure if anyone else feels this way, but this reminded me of the region wars that started up a while back)
