“Well ok at least you are mostly on my side” she chuckles tossing her short hair back. “I love sledding and skiing. I feel like we don’t do it enough here in the palace. Too many people complain about how cold it is an ruin it.” 

❝ doesn’t the badass life have to choose you, or something? i think i was prophesized for that. but my weirdness appreciates you liking it, you really know how to stroke its ego. ❞ he tried to keep a straight face to help his argument, but ended up breaking into a smile. ❝ because you love me, maybe? i think that’s a good reason. ❞ his smile quickly evolved into a giggle at her next statement. ❝ oopsie, my apologies. if the lady demands it, i suppose as her gentleman in waiting, i must oblige. next ice cream run is on me, and you’re invited as well. W-W-A-D; right, got it. i’ll keep that in mind when i’m facing a difficult decision. ❞

“ you really think that lowly of me; low enough to lie to you ? “ lukas grinned, “ in most cases, you’re right. but not this one. cross my heart. he had no middle name. until today. “ he shrugged, “ the new j stands for jay. tommy jay jefferson; otherwise known as tommy j. jefferson. “ when adelia leaned in, lukas watched her lips quirk. he wouldn’t say he liked watching people smile, so much as he liked knowing that he could have that effect when he tried hard enough. “ it’s not offensive. i can’t help that i’m an adversary toward arranged marriages. i happen to be one of the few people left in this world who believe in true love. “ after his last two words he pretended to gag, emphasizing his sarcasm. “ i didn’t know i needed to get you a ring. here i thought we were breaking gender roles. “

“i’m sorry, am i talking to the princess of france here, causeeeee.” he joked right back, pulling a face that screamed yikes before it fell apart with a boisterous laugh. his drink had almost spilled due to his slow reaction to being dragged but he didn’t mind one bit. “please, who else would i want to hang out here with?…okay, maybe not you tonight ‘cause my dad will beat my ass if i do the shit i do with you.” as if that would stop him, though. she would make this ball bearable. “you’re not even tipsy yet? what have you been doing all night?” without hesitation, he ordered them two of their regular shots, both of which he was going to slide to her.

“oh, fuck off,” adelia laughed, giving him a light shove on his shoulder. “oh, don’t even worry, i’ll be in the same boat with my parents. you bring out the worst in me, garcia, and mom and pops don’t like it one bit. i’ll be lucky if i’m alive tomorrow. but hey, at least we have fun, am i right?” although realistically, adelia could probably manage to get in just as much shit on her own as she does with anyone else, she loved hanging out with julien, he was one of the few people that could keep up with her. “in my defense, due to years of hard work, i’ve developed quite the tolerance. but i’m getting there.” adelia shot him a smile as julien pushed the shots towards her. “you’re too good to me,” she said before throwing the shots back one after the other. slamming the second one down on the bar, she ignored the few unimpressed glances she got from some adults hovering around the bar and beamed at julien. “those'll definitely help me catch up.”

slowly breaking away from his father and sister, his only family members able to attend the festivity, julien walked backwards still bidding a short goodbye to them. his attention was loosely on anyone but them, it wasn’t a shocker that he ended up bumping shoulders with another attendant. “oh, disculpame. sorry, wasn’t watching my step.”

“what where you’re fucking going, asshole.” adelia teased when she saw it was julien that ran into her. taking in his condition, she was immediately slightly jealous that he was well on his way to being drunk. looping her arm through his, she began to drag him away. “i hope you didn’t have any plans to hang out with someone else, because i’m stealing you now. i need another drink, it looks like i have some catching up to do.” she laughed as she started towards the bar.

anja made her way to the bar to fill up her drink of rosé and maybe get something to nibble on. she wore a smile and a beautiful ball gown that made her feel like she was floating on air. even though yasmin didn’t come (parties weren’t her thing at all), and anja was disappointed about that, she was still excited to be at a party, in a gown, in a ballroom - she was in her element, she sat down at the stool as the bartender filled up her wineglass and she grabbed an avocado sushi roll from the platter. “this grand ball that they put together is really something isn’t it? the dinner was exquisite.” 

after emptying her glass for the third time that night, adelia headed back for a fourth, just starting to feel the alcohol in her system. passing on the food that would soak up her drinks, she turned to look at anja as she spoke, shooting her a smile. “yeah, i guess, if you’re into this kinda thing, y’know? this is just might be the worst kind of party i could ever imagine, but i know i’m in the minority,” she said with a laugh. “but hey, more power to ya if you can make dressing up in uncomfortable dresses and walking on eggshells all night around all these people fun without getting absolutely plastered.” her tone was absent of any sarcasm, she seriously did respect anyone that enjoyed this kind of shit, she just didn’t. 

“nothing bothers me more then when people expect women to come to balls dressed to the ten’s but then the men can get away with wearing suits that don’t fit. it’s called a TAILOR. you cannot put all this pressure on the ladies and then slack on your own appearance. — ziemlich faul meiner meinung nach.” alaric sneered with a sip from his champagne glass.

“dude, seriously?” adelia questioned, eyebrows shooting up. “i can’t say i’ve ever noticed. i’ve never really been into the whole fashion thing, so i wouldn’t know a tailored suit if my life depended on it. and i don’t really know anything about the pressure either. granted, i’m not allowed to pick out my own outfits for this kinda stuff. i, personally, would prefer if it was all lazy. who cares about what people wear?”

“ abigail, right ? “ lukas straight-faced the joke and scanned her face for signs of one of her classic retorts before segueing, “ i’ll have you know, my history knowledge is fuckin’ top notch. “ he tsked, shaking his head. “ i say we rename him tommy j. jefferson. i’m sure he wouldn’t mind; y’know, what with him being six feet under some patch of ground somewhere in the world and all. “ when adelia finished, he smiled and motioned for her to come closer. lukas looked around, feigning caution, before continuing in a low voice. “ y’see, i’d believe you… if i hadn’t already killed them. besides, “ he leaned back again with a grin, raising his left hand, “ where’s my ring ? “

it’s not that lukas didn’t make a habit out of conversing with others. in fact, he had a specific ( and painstakingly low, some might add ) quota he intended to keep to. of course, most of the time that quota worked on a per-month basis. if he was blunt, he’d claim that he just didn’t enjoy people all too much. “ in the words of good ol’ thomas no-middle-name jefferson, “ lukas leaned against a bastion of the castle, a specific favorite of his, “ what did i miss ? “ he paused then, as if to consider the weight of his question, “ scratch that. just to let the record show, my intent was more of a chipper, ’ how’s your day going, pal ! ’ my happy demeanor doesn’t always radiate off of me as planned–if you couldn’t tell already. ” lukas smirked.

“no hesitation, no second thoughts — just answer this question immediately,” elli found herself taking small steps around the kitchen, feet shuffling against the tile flooring as she spoke and her hand sliding against the granite countertop. “would you rather give up..” her eyes shifted around the kitchen before landing on a box of pizza left laying around, something she would never actually touch. “pizza or give up oral sex?”

really, he’s just trying to cook some nice old tamales ( that will not taste nearly as good as his mother’s ) but he can feel eyes on his back and it’s been five minutes. he cannot keep from addressing this any longer. without turning, he removed the tamales from the steamer and placed them on a plate.  “i know my butt looks good and these tamales smell bomb but if you want either you’re going to need to speak up.”

“hypothetically speaking,” monique muttered, glancing up from the pages of her journal. a small, fanciful smile tugged at her soft features as she let her fingertips dance upon the leather-bound object clutched in her hands. “do you think it’s frowned upon to swim in the fountain? because if not… would you be interested?”

❄ - “I know a lot of people hate the cold but I love snow. I wish there was more of it.” she smiles before giving a little shrug. “Then again I am sure anyone from a colder place than Korea would disagree” she smiles now turning to face the other. “But don’t you agree pictures are just classier in the snow?”

truthfully, bennett had a hard time separating the two aspects of his life that he often juggled. this situation was no different. here he was, with quite possibly his future sister-in-law, and all he could see her as was his friend, adelia. it was as though kai didn’t fit into the equation. ben wished that he could have a little more overlap, that he could always be honest with his friends, but that wasn’t necessarily the case, and it hadn’t been the case for a long time. one would think he’d have been used to the secrecy by now. he had to remind himself who to be around adelia, what things he could and couldn’t say. he had to act like he didn’t already know so much about her based on things that kai had told him throughout the five years that they’d been together. it’d been challenging before, but now that they were completely alone, it was proving to be harder and harder as the time passed. bennett just had to be careful, that was all, and everything would be fine. he was determined to have a good night. 

ben grinned as soon as she revealed that she could put both of her feet behind her head. “i could do that when i was a kid. i’m clearly not as limber anymore.” he chuckled. ben was incredibly clumsy, to be quite honest. it was one of the few things that he’d never really grown out of. he used to be very lanky and his head was too big for his body, but thankfully puberty did its magic. if only its magic worked on his shy attitude. “you’re really something else, adelia.” he grinned after she finished telling him her stories. “nothing in particular. i just find you really interesting. you seem like you really live, you know?” ben said. “there’s something to admire about that.”

“you can’t do it anymore? that’s lame, darby. for all this time you claim to be spending at the gym you should probably be stretching more.” adelia teased. she laughed at his comment. “do you seriously find me interesting? why? i’m nothing special. just adelia. and there’s no right or wrong way to live, you know that right, ben? i’m just me, and the dumb shit i do just goes along with it because it’s who i am. you’re not living less of a life if you’re not a fucking idiot like i am. it really isn’t something you should admire.” she said with a shrug. it wasn’t the first time someone had said something along those lines to adelia, yet she was just as shocked as when she heard it the first time. it wasn’t like she was trying to act up or anything like that, she just looked to enjoy herself and to not hold back, but she wasn’t dumb enough to think everyone was the same as her. and there wasn’t anything wrong with that. people are different and incredible and that’s one of the things adelia loved about people, that they’re all so special.

❝ does that mean you didn’t like me and my weirdness before? perhaps i have to reconsider this ‘friendship’ – if i can even call it that. ❞ he responded. ❝ didn’t know you were in the promotion of bodyguard safety and welfare club. didn’t mean to offend you, dost. next time i’ll buy them ice cream to clear the air between us, only because it’s something you would do.  ❞

“adelia!!” she replied, using the same tone of voice that the blonde had used. “i’m full of surprises tonight –– all just for you. you should feel honored,” she joked, allowing herself to be pulled into the room soon after. aislinn settled on the foot of the bed with her wine glass in hand before taking a sip. “lucky for you, i was in need of some girl time and figured you wouldn’t be opposed to some company. but you’re right,” she added, “it’s impossible for me to go a whole day without bonding time.” she rolled her eyes playfully. “but tell me, anything new worth noting?”
