I stare at you in wonderment.

I stare

without much thought.

More out of habit.

As if there is something

that can be unlocked,

only by me.

Sometimes, you stare back.

And it cuts me up

so deeply that

I am unable to speak.

Unable to breathe.

Unable to see.

Left truly alone

in a wasted body.

Left with a pulse

A line in the sand,

close enough to the shore,

will hold itself well.

Until the tide runs through.

That line will slowly become full.

Truly, full of itself.

Something with such subtle depth

will no longer be.

It will be washed away,

I just need this.

With this, I will be complete;

My life can begin.

It was always this that was missing.

This is vital and timeless.

Past and future generations of me

Always needed this.

This is what changed me,

This is what progressed me.

I will be better with this.

I saw you once

But like many times before,

I paved a way.

Without hesitance,

Without permission;

Like light flashes storming closed eyelids.

This is what fills my free space.

And it sticks

For what seems like forever.

And I wish I could live
