Hey Mr evil Adachi man, real and genuine question for you! Who do you find the most tolerable or alike out of everyone from the IT?
Hm, now that's an interesting one! The obvious answer is Yu Narukami (Or Souji Seta), but while he is the most tolerable one out of all the brats, he is not the most alike.
That award goes to his dear little partner, the June's prince, Yosuke Hanamura.
I see you scratching your head all confused like but hear me out! It make perfect sense! While me and that Narukami kid are narrative foils, me and Hanamura are parallels. Except he get to be the "good guy" or whatever.
See, the is a lot in common me and Yosuke Hanamura have. We both are working at some low paying soul sucking job in the middle of the boonies, we both kept our heads down at school and just try to coast by. We are both talented yet we never are given a chance to truly used it (well, he did due to mine and Izanami's doing and I threw it all away because of how I treat women in my life but at the start we are the same!)
There is also the fact we are both deeply jealous and unsatisfied people. Yosuke Hanamura hated living in Inaba, he is lonely here and honestly? Probably pretty lonely back in the city, cause none of them bother to reach out to him when he got sent trudging the fields. In his dungeon, it is revealed that he use the murders as a way to feel special and important, that he hated his current life, that he pretend to be this bubbly nice guy so that he can get people to like him, for a chance that people don't see him as the prince of Junes that ruined the town shopping district.
He is also very intelligent which many people ignore or downplay, before that child detective joined their little team he was the one most ontop of things. And while he didn't have a single clue it was me or motive or stuff, he did lead the team in mostly the right direction and despite not having any formal training in detective work to this level, faired pretty well on finding clues and evidence and keeping the investigation strong enough that with Shirogane'a insight manage to push the case along.
He just downplays and hide it all underneath his goofy, teenage boy mannerism. The one that seeks out girls and his "up-close-and-personal plan", his need for validation due to his own deep insecurities. The world left him behind, especially with the death of Saki Konishi, fortunately for him Narukami/Seta was there to be his guiding light through the fog.
In the end, still doesn't change the fact he's painfully human, a teenage boy from the city stuck in rural Japan in the early 2000s. That people hate him for the way he acts, without realizing- or ignoring- why he acts the way he does, and the fact they all fell for the mask he wears to hide his insecurities, his moral dilemmas, like a bunch of fools.
So, there you have it!
